Time-Honored Design With Modern Materials
An ancient design dating back to Roman times, the friction folder has recently returned to popularity in the EDC community. The design is similar to a straight razor: To deploy the blade, push on the tang. By grasping the spine of the handle, you’ll manually secure the blade—no locking mechanism necessary. Designed by Filip De Leeuw, this Spyderco take features a nearly 3-inch VG-10 blade with a full-flat grind. The handle is constructed from precision-machined G-10 that’s finished smooth for a nice feel in the hand. Holding it together are recessed stainless steel Torx screws and a G-10 backspacer. Because the folder could come open when loose in the pocket, it comes with a leather pouch for storage.
