I don’t see any option on this listing of not receiving any sort of case and being able to purchase this knife for $170. Amazon Prime is selling the Police 4 for $188.45 with free shipping from Amazon itself not another vendor, Blade HQ is selling this model for $201 with free shipping, Knife Center for $201.50 with free shipping. How is MassDrop offering this knife at this price being any sort of a deal or reward for its members purchasing this model at this price? The idea of purchasing in mass quantities is for the members to receive a deal. I see no deal here.

I'm so pumped. Can't wait to see how it stacks up against my Rex45 Military

Why k390? Odd. Guess that’s for the patina lovers.

I have a couple m390 blades, but this will be my first K390. If what you say about its edge retention and toughness is true...I'm in for a real treat. My Zero Tolerance in M390 steel has been the most impressive blade I've ever owned. IMHO it beats my M4, S110V, 20cv and CTS-204p blades in holding an edge and not chipping or rolling. Of course it could be I just got lucky and ended up with a rare combination of perfect edge geometry coupled with an exceptional heat treat.

Bob_VelleYou didn't get lucky, you just got some ZT M390. I've always rated CPM 20CV as a bit better than M390, but ot occurred to me a while ago that that may be because all the knives I own with 20CV, save for a relatively new Strider, are ZTa. And they just seem to do everything very well. Also, the majority of my knives with M390 blades are Microtechs, and while they have the most amazing hand-ground bevels on them, so that the blades are literally sharp like razor blades, the fineness of the cutting edge means that razor sharpness doesn't last as long as it would on a nice, beefy ZT blade. So maybe my slight preference for 20CV comes down to comparing apples to oranges by the measure of which one makes better pie. So to speak. I'd love to get my hands on some ZT-made M390 with an identical blade shape to one of their knives with 20CV for a true comparison. High quality problems for sure; hard to even picture the days in the when people went thought AUS 8 was a great blade steel.

If this was a partial-serrated blade I'd be on it. I've owned two other Spyderco Police models previously.

brent71Interesting. I typically don't like serrated blades on anything other than toolbox/utility knives. But in this case, with such a long blade for a pocket knife, I think being partially serrated would be quite useful. But I guess it wasn't a deal breaker, because mine will be here Friday :)

I have been looking for a deal on one of these for some time. With most places now charging tax and/or shipping, this is the best deal I have found by just over $15.

This one is above my price threshold, but I would gladly accept one as a gift. I have a couple of the old style stainless steel scaled versions with traction tape added. Besides the G10, the addition of the finger choil makes this version easier to handle. The Spyderco price increases, combined with their Minimum Advertised Pricing has me less likely to buy their knives, despite liking their products.

I really dislike that they changed to a full flat grind.

A_T_L_A_SI agree ... I'll take the old-school "hollow-ground with reinforced swedge" style over FFG any day.

Kozma_PrutkoffJust checked. You’re right. As of now, it’s even cheaper on Amazon. And it’s being sold by Amz, making it very unlikely it will be fake.

K390 steel is apparently not stainless and thus prone to rust. No thanks

PaLeeYou are correct. It is not stainless. That does not keep it from being a wonderful steel in terms of edge retention, toughness, and hardness. I dropped a D-2 of mine in a back yard. (SW Cutjack. The owner found it a few months later. The protective layer had worn off and it rusted. It is taken apart and awaiting attention. My new one has been kept up with and does not show any rust; Memphis.) In large part, it comes down to whether or not the buyer wants to invest time and effort into this aspect of upkeep. For me it's not a problem. All knives will require sharpening except for those that have been confined to their original shipping containers, never to see the light of day. Thank you for pointing this out. I often think such things are self-evident. But they were not a few years ago at a time when I was not interested in knives and steel.

For those of you thinking about taking the plunge, this model has been modified so that the clip can be attached to either end and either side. The older police models were tip down carry.

14themoneyUgh, Spyderco. I love the size of the Resilience. It seems like it was made for my hand. Have been looking for something similar with better steel and materials. Would get the S110 Military except they still make them tip-down only. The Police model I never considered because I do not like the stainless handles or tip-down. Then I see this and it looks perfect, except the blade steel. I am sure it is great steel but being honest with myself, I never would clean it properly. I basically do nothing with my knives until they need to be re-sharpened.
Oh, as far as the "complimentary" pouch goes. That is just Massdrop's way of trying to get around Spyderco's pricing rules. Decline the pouch and get a small discount vs other retailers.
