Product Description
Made in the Tactile Turn shop in Richardson, Texas, the Slider and Glider pens are machined from solid metal for reliable durability and a great feel in the hand. Sliders tend to fit better in shirt pockets without sticking out, while Gliders may be more comfortable for writers with larger hands Read More
RatRacerI stopped by Will's shop this Saturday to pick up some pens and see them firsthand.
They are really nice pens and the amount of work and passion he has for these really shows in the craftsmanship.
To answer your question, they are the same pens but sized differently for the Parker-type and G2 type refills is all.
I got my pen from previous drop and I'm disappointed with the mechanism. Looks like the spring is too weak, so when I disengage the bolt, it doesn't move all the way up but stucks somewhere in the second half (position varies).
Hey everybody - this is Will Hodges from Tactile Turn. We're excited to bring the Slider and Glider bolt action pens to Massdrop. These are designed by me and made in my shop in Richardson, Texas. We have some pretty sweet DMG Mori lathes and strive to make some awesome pens. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact me directly at will@tactileturn.com or ask away here and I'll try to answer any questions quickly.
TactileTurnWill this have the [K] marking like the one for Kickstarter? Some of the individual pictures for the anodised colours looked like it had the [K] marking, but I was wondering if maybe those were just stock photos.
sharlThey won't have a K on the inside of the clip, it will be 2018 for the year of manufacture. The K's were only for Kickstarter and they are the stock photos. Thanks for asking!
I have a number of Will's pens, and I love writing with all of them. The only pen I don't have is a Shaker, which I will remedy at some point...
Note that if you go for the Glider in brass or copper, it may feel a little back heavy depending on the size of your hands, grip, etc.
If you prefer lighter pens, the Aluminum feels wonderful in hand, and the colors are awesome.
It looks like there are a number of comments here complaining about the copper appearing "dirty"... that's just normal oxidation. Brass and Copper will develop a patina. You can clean it off with a jeweler's cloth, jewelry clearner, or a mixture of vinegar and water if you want to keep it new and shiny. Or, you can let the metal develop a natural patina as you use it. All that to say, the metal isn't "dirty." That's just how brass and copper react to the air and moisture.
bg1256Of course we know about patina. The "dirty" I was referring to was the quality of the Copper material. At least with mine, it's not a bright orangy Copper - even after cleaning with polish or Tarn-X. It's a dull, dark, brownish Copper that refuses to brighten.
Look at my photo below with the pen among several tops, flashlights, spinners, etc (15 weeks ago). Even after cleaning, the metal is dark and dirty compared to the bright Coppers of the other items. I think it's just the quality of the material that is the issue.
glennacIt’s the same copper 145 that most other machines copper objects are made from. If you’d like to send it back to us we will gladly polish it up for you. Send me an email at will@tactileturn.com.
I carry one of these every day. I've given a number of them to friends and family as gifts. They are nothing less than outstanding, highly recommended.

I have several Gliders and a Zirconium / Damascus Gist fountain pen that Will Hodges put together for me. A lot of pride and quality goes into these pens.
glennacBy any chance is one of those the Slider, and the other the Glider? I don't suspect that's the case, but either I'm missing it, or the difference between the two (other than length & weight) isn't provided in the listing.
If yours aren't Sliders & Gliders, what are they? I'm not sure if I like the style of the one on the left better, or if I'm bias because it's copper.
I just got my pen today. The machining, the action are beautiful.
As a pen, it’s totally useless. I don’t know if I got a bad cartridge, but the ink doesn’t flow well at all and the ball doesn’t roll properly.
Where can I get a better cartridge for this?
BWSxYou are confusing the Slider/Glider with the (press-the-top-button-style) Mover/Shaker pair. It's the Mover/Shaker that have been updated from an outsourced knock to the in-house mechanism with a ball bearing. It's my understanding that the Sliders and Gliders have had TT's own bolt mechanism from the get-go.
