Can someone explain to me the point of such a product, including the tritium type? I've looked at these with interest, but never understand what they're meant for.

Attach them to your car keys or even a flashlight, so you can always find them when the lights go out. I also find it useful to attach to luggage so you can find your stuff in a pitch black hotel room. Lot's of uses.
