Is it any wonder that tops have entertained humanity for more than 5,500 years? Like watching a fire, spinning a top is both incredibly easy and surprisingly satisfying—even addictive Read More
arvindtirkeyI have both. And like them for different reasons. They both can have long spin times. The Lambda's round appearance give it a 'sexy' look to it. While the Vorso is more industrial (The polished ones have a refined look like jewelry).
I missed out on the two-tone versions of the Lambda and am disappointed about that (I really would have preferred the Aluminum and Brass instead of the solid Brass that I have). For that reason my Vorso edges out my Lambda as my favorite.
But, again, they are both beautiful in their own rights.
Foreverspin is not the best for ease of spinning or spin time, but the design is beautiful and the prices are nothing compared to many other companies. They also might send you a gift and the packaging is amazing, with a letter signed by the co-founder.
Whelp I finally got it! It is far far smaller than I expected, I'm not disappointing or anything but very surprised. The pictures on MD made it seem huge.
This little guy is fantastic, I got 9 minutes out of a casual spin on my phone screen, it took forever to get here but it's quality.
For the dust problem, there's an easy trick: dust is attracted to the lens by static electricity, especially if you clean the lens with a dry cloth; a good remedy is to apply the infinitesimal quantity of natural grease of your hand or finger on the whole surface of the lens, it will keep it electricity- and dust- free for some time. If your hand is too dry, touch any other part of your body, e.g. your forehead, nose ..., before touching the lens.
What you say about the top moving to an edge suggests that the surface supporting the lens is too far from horizontal. These lenses are so small that they cannot compensate for large deviations from horizontal (which is the only purpose of using a concave lens). That's a second reason why I prefer a cheap and larger mirror. Have you tried to put a few sheets of paper under a side of the lens?
In the meanwhile, I have looked at my lens with a 10x magnifying glass and I can see that there are small scratches (even on the side I never used). So, I have definitively put it aside.
I'd like to try the Billetspin K9 lens, but it's too expensive (and I'd have to add 45$ for shipping to France). If anyone has used it, I'd like to have your opinion.
DenisBBoth good tips, my finger grease, as gross as it sound does seem to help, and it even helps in lubricating the surface, and putting the lens on a notebook seems to have cured it spinning out to the edges. I had suspected that my desk was not level but it's not very visable to the eye. A mirror might be a good idea for me too but they're a bit large, I like the small size of the lens as I can leave it on my desk without taking up much room at all. Ah yes BilletSpin, anything that guy makes is absolutely out of my price range, but maybe maybe once I graduate college I'll be able to afford something of his.
I will be getting the performance with ceramic ball,i am very excited for this it will be my first top for me and my son to enjoy,he has autism and loves balancing and spinning things, this will be my first Massdrop also.

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to do a quick message to say a HUGE THANKYOU to all of you who got on board with this drop. Its been a humbling experience to see so many of you back our spinning top, thank you for your support and enthusiasm. We won't let you down.
Thanks again.
Will
O.o Hold on a second.
While the brass ones are an OK deal at $42.74 since Vorso sells them for £36 (apx $46.66), so 8.4% off. However, Massdrop, you are charging $60.74 for a copper top ($39.99 + 18.00 + 2.75). VorsoSpin.com sells them directly on their site for £46 (apx $59.67), so you are charging 1.8% more. Stainless Steel appears to break even at £42 (apx $54.44) vs $54.74, you are still 0.6% more.
Did you not get a group buy price from Vorso?
After tax and shipping the minimal top on here cost $45 if I order one from Vorso it's $44, interesting..... I'm starting to notice that massdrop puts a really high msrp to make it seem like you're getting a deal
This is an excellent top. I've had a brass one with a knurled top and a ruby bearing for almost a year now, and I'm still spinning it all day, every day. Forget the 8 minutes in the description — it almost always exceeds that. My record so far is 14:45 on a ForeverSpin base, and I've heard of others cracking the 15-minute mark. You will not find a better top for the price anywhere.
Look for PlierSpinningTops on Etsy on Fridays.
He did a drop for his copper Saturn no stem spinner last month.
He does a one of a kind top every week.
And usually it's a tungsten top for about $60.
Just saw this update on the Vorso Facebook page.
Will Cutler feeling annoyed.

Update on the Vorso Massdrop, unfortunately there has been a slight delay at customs, they held the parcel because they didn't understand why "Spinning Tops" would have such a high value!
smile emoticon
It's all sorted now and should be on its way to Massdrop in the next day or two.
CrablesAhhh customs.... Unable to stop illegal drug trade and illegal weapons trades, but wave some expensive tiny brass tops under their noses and they are all over it like maple syrup on waffles... Makes me feel safer, knowing they are doing their part to stop the import of dangerous spinning tops into this country.
Hi Guys,
Will from Vorso here.
I am more than happy to let you all know that everything is running on schedule! We did our best to make sure that no-one would be disappointed, and to make sure the orders where sent out in good time. Every top has been machined, polished, assembled, tested and packaged, all 400 are now about to land in the USA.
I would also like to personally thank all of you for getting on-board with this drop, it has been a pleasure to count you all as customers, and a pleasure to watch each top being packed knowing that it is going from my hands to yours. It really was a bit of an emotional moment when we finished the batch, but thankfully we had beer ready to be opened.
As an added benefit to you all, Massdroppers will be the first of our customers to receive our brand new stickers, It's not a big thing, but I hope you like them, we have increased the size, durability and changed the design to make them just that bit more stickable. ;)
Thanks again,
Will
VorsoSpinningTopsThanks for the pictures and the post. This is my one and only top. It's the perfect combination of craftsmanship, silliness and simple beauty. I look forward to spinning it at work and blowing our two year olds mind.
ScroogeMcDuck I've never spent a cent for a television, wouldn't have one in my home. So, for some good clean fun, I felt I could justify spending less than a tenth of what that mind rotting, addictive tv would've cost me.
