Been wearing mine. A few comments, some to answer some previously asked questions.
I'm a size 10 in everything, got size 10. Not broken in yet, but them seem true to size to me.
Got speed hooks.
Quality is very good. If Alden or Church's are a 10 in quality, these are a solid 8. Given the pricing, a tremendous value.
Very, very comfortable. Feels like I'm wearing footwear that's good for my feet.
They look really great.
Re-sole? Refurb? Thorogood appears to offer a refurbishment service to service your boots.
Overall, very pleased. This is a great boot, especially at this price.
What could be better? Thicker tongue. Leather lining. Thicker sole. Remove branding from tongue. Black stitching (for black leather). Wish list? Cordovan leather (i.e, that special horsehide, not the color), and while we're at it, that color, too (Color 8, please).
Ordered size 11. I’m 11 exactly on self-measured brannock and an 11 in my Wolverine 1ks and JCrew Kenton Pacers. I’ll check in after this delivers to give future folks another datapoint about fit.
SRDowUpdate: lengthwise these are identical to my 1ks, but also for sure wider. Fit is good in wool socks but I suspect (haven’t yet had time to try) they will be a bit too roomy in dress socks.
I happen to have bunions on both feet, so a wider-than-needed fit is welcome for me. I’d also echo above comments praising the construction and material quality of these boots. Stitching & welting are flawless and the leather is excellent. Highly impressed overall, would recommend Thorogood to anyone. I hope this sizing feedback is helpful to future folks looking to buy!
Sales Tax:
The order says sales tax required when shipping to NJ, but NJ does not charge a sales tax on clothing or shoes.
Is this a sales tax or another form of tax?
Anyone ever receive these boots with misaligned eyelets? My last order had to be returned because one of the shoes had badly misaligned eyelets (the flap was sewed on incorrectly): https://www.massdrop.com/buy/thorogood-1892-natural-chromexcel-boots/reviews/2223810?utm_source=linkshare&referer=2E4U9V
I was wondering whether it was just a fluke or a common occurrence with these boots.
Ok despite my reservations, I joined the drop. Ordered the natural color in size 8. I'm thinking these will go especially well with my Camber 107 Canvas Pants.
Can someone address the fact that the previous drop fulfillment of this did not have the 2 speedhooks at the top as shown in the photos of this here and all over the internet? To me that is a red flag for counterfeit product.
lassetjusThe majority of the batch we're getting has the speedhooks. All the product we sell is official and comes directly from the folks at Thorogood 1892. We don't sell counterfeit. The reason why some folks received boots without the speedhooks was because there were different product batches; they've been added back on recently, but both versions are legit and official product.
