Massdrop, the reason I come here is for high quality, preferably American made goods for a nice price. Not for rebranded Chinese stuff at a price higher or equal to what you can find on Amazon. I love you guys but I don't like the direction this is going.
What's up with the shipping cost of this thing? Pretty outrageous that it'll almost cost me as much as what the product is worth to ship it, and adding more units doesn't even make the cost any more palatable.
We just had an internal discussion at my company on what qualifies as a "digital nomad", and occasionally decamping to a Starbucks, or to whatever pier that is, doesn't even come close. I can't imagine what being a risk taker has to do with one's choice of courier bag, but it's probably the opposite of what was intended. The video is clearly trying to appeal to some narrow demographic, but I think they missed completely, so much so as to provide significant comic value. I might watch again and pretend it's a SNL skit.
Just as a warning to all would-be buyers, it would seem that Travables purchases several/potentially all of its products from China. Identical examples of its offerings can be found for sale by generic Chinese vendors on Amazon, and all such examples use PU leather - a fact that both Travables and Massdrop neglect to mention. My first impression of Travables was that even the full MSRP of their products is too good to be true, and so far, I haven't found any evidence to the contrary.
TRG93Yeah, my quick research revealed the same.
Bag looks cool, so I purchased one of the unbranded / generic branded versions from another site. Here's hoping it holds up since it was so cheap.
That said, yes the marketing here is very disappointing, and frankly, potentially misleading. The advertising and description makes it sound like it was made for a specific purpose (the urban prepper / EDC'er type). However, a little googling demonstrates that this is possibly just a cool looking bag that "Travables" felt they could rebrand as their own, mark-up, and then offer to Massdrop at a "mark-down" price. Hopefully this is not the case and the actual production company is trying to create their own brand. If it's the latter, I applaud it. That said, if this is the actual production company providing the drop, I don't understand why they couldn't beat the pricing of their own product provided by other vendors on other sites. $32.99, no tax (depending on your area) and free shipping (if you have prime) for the exact same bag by GESU

Long story short: Massdrop, brand matters. Based on many discussions I've seen on many products, we are purchasing products... but also want to support good companies. And we do our homework, so you should too. So if we can find the same exact product for $15 less, you've either been fooled, or you're trying to fool us. Neither is good for business.
As good looking as the bag is in the pictures I wasn't really interested in buying it, just wondering what the color option was. Thanks for the heads up though, appreciate it!
Thanks for the heads up, I'll probably grab it from Amazon. This explains why a company with such crappy marketing videos could make a decent looking bag.
