Nice little watch!
SIZE! Is that an airlock on the left of that U-boat?
I really wish Massdrop never stops dropping this watch the comments are always golden
Needs more "U-Boat" logo.
U-Boat no u
OK - looking for an automatic chronograph with left crown and pushers (destro) with a price that won't break the bank and isn't a monster like this. So many nice chronos with Valjoux 7750 movements, anything comparable under the radar that I haven't found with pushers/crown on the left (Sinn has a bunch, out of my price range though - though I'd buy a Sinn Military Type II in a heart beat if I could find one.
mwilliams
if you're a Sinn fan and want left crown/ pushers, you should check out the Guinand Series 40.
This should attract a subset of buyers compensating for having small... feet. Oh, and that MSRP is hilarious!
Has a secondary function - wall clock.

Comedy😂!

I am not man enough to wear that watch.
Wow that's one ugly poorly thought out tasteless POS watch... Not surprised it ended up here at massdrop, bet they could barely give it away in a serious retail setting..
bespokebicycle
It is so willingly ugly that they should have called it 'tactical' - then it would have sold....
What truly baffles me is, with all that dial real estate, why are numerals still being cut off??
I mean, for crying out loud, you can only tell that's a 6 by the context.

I am in agreement with you somewhat, but it’s based more in the principle of how much space they could have actually used. The diameter of a Val 7750 movement is 30mm, and this watch is 50mm, which gave them a lot more room to play with. It’s just a very convoluted design in many ways. I applaud the use of a Val though.

The 7750 is unobjectionable, and I have exactly the same reservations.
With that much space around the movement, they could have done something really interesting, such as making a mechanical watch that's as durable as a G-Shock. Instead, I'm pretty sure they just stuck a metal spacer in there, and 50% or more of the volume of this watch is just utterly wasted space.
If you like the vibe of this watch, but only have a tenth of the money to spend, you can take a look at Tauchmeister, a Germasian brand that has some fairly over-the-top big, knobby offerings.
I was hoping that this drop would go through so that there might be future U-Boat drops, but it looks dicey at this point.
One of my favorite watches of all time. I'm super excited that you have a relationship with U-Boat and hope MassDrop continues to offer more from this manufacturer in the future.
Halk said that this is a good size
As a U-Boat owner I find these threads very entertaining 👍
next!
I feel like this is what Captain America was wearing on his wrist as he bashed the minions of Thanos in the new Avengers film.

You couldn't give me this watch for free😂
It's worth 60¢ in my books
Hmm...not that I have any real U-Boat experience (although I did see "Das Boat" once--with English subtitles), but I'm guessing the flight deck on most of 'em is a pretty confining patch of real estate--and how you'd land a plane on a submarine is beyond my imagination, but I'm guessing it's a real challenge if the flight deck happens to be 100 feet below the surface. No doubt that takes practice.
Anyway, nice watch but the whole Big Ben on your wrist thing never did it for me.

First of all, you are misquoting me...

misquoted? poggers
Only 50 mm? Bring on the 53 mm U-Boats!
This is really cool. I wish I had the money right now. I'll console myself by remembering that I dislike chronographs.
U-Boats are very polarizing, as the other comments show.
$2k for this mostrosity and already 2 buyers. $2.5k for the much more functional and wearable Ralph Lauren Sporting with the Jag Lecoultre movement ($$$$) and only 1 buyer and everyone criticizs it's price? Just perplexed.

There's no accounting for taste.
Panerai base please. 😃
This would work perfectly as a wall clock in my workshop.
Sorry but I can find the same watch for the same price here: https://www.chrono24.fr/uboat/flightdeck-50-black-ceramic-7094--id7929193.htm
NemoSandman
That translates to $2250 US
Wow, now that's a new low for you, massdrop guys. This is supposed to be a place for enthusiasts who care about the hobbies, right? Why are you putting overpriced mall watch here? Why?

Steinharts, Christopher Wards, a buttload of Seikos and the like. Maybe an occasional Stowa - their bauhaus watches are cool, classic and affordable. You know, something with a serviceable movement, a classic design, etc.
iakovmarkov
Stowa! Yesir! I have an Antea Creme. It's a great simple and classic dress watch.
This watch is not for the average wrist, as these are massive watches.
StainlessOnly
Do you even lift bro? 😃
I have a fake U-Boat. Cost me 27USD. It's a tank! I don't really get the why on these monster watches.
OldFinn
That is why Invicta lives on. Massive watches for those who like them.
So, is this a diver? I can't quite tell.
If it is "100-meter water resistance" is seriously disappointing, especially at this price point and imo the only time this size would be apropriate would be on top of a dive suit, or some other suit.
Holy sheet!
