Got this for a coworker. Righteous. Whangs a toothpick clear across the room, once you figure out how to keep your fingers out of the way of the string and the spring centered so it launches cleanly. But not so terribly hard you’re REALLY concerned about destroying stuff! Just right. Wish I’d gotten a second one for myself. edit: at people complaining about it misfiring double-ended toothpicks, that’s what the loose spring sliding around on the string seemed to be for. It makes the string bigger, sort of? So that it catches on even double-ended toothpick butts, instead of missing them or jamming. Make sure the spring is centered on the string behind your toothpick before you discharge it. At people complaining it’s too intense for shooting other people, get ‘em from further away. This is definitely a down-the-hallway toy if you’re pointing it at someone you don’t intend to kill. (I got the Phoenix, can’t speak for the other styles.)

pretty sweet novelty toy. although it was a hassle at first trying to find toothpicks that were only 1 sided. does say it will shoot BB's, however you need to find some REALLY small ones, so that part is not worth. but if you find a "thin-stick" q-tip and get some lighter fluid, it makes for a really cool "flaming arrow". overall it has worked for my purpose that i bought it. not sure if my cat or employees feel the same about it.......

POS I've 3 other styles and they were all great but the Ghost Hunter is a POS. Mine came with no laser and the trigger mechanism doesn't work. Waiting to see what Massdrop does about this

Gunner55I bought 4 of the ghost hunters but only 2 arrived...I think the package was opened mid transit. However....the trigger mech doesn't work because the little clip that holds the bow cable has been installed backwards. I took one of mine apart tonight (pain in the A) and spun it around and works well now. I noticed the other one is the same but i havent fixed it yet.....these really are a piece of crap though

Mine came assembled with no Phoenix or anything else but an extra cable. Its well constructed and will take an eye out so wear googles. I'm serious. It will also kill a small animal so if any of you have some little bastard kid that wants to hurt pets and is a future serial killer, please, dont encourage him with this item.
Sucks it didnt ship as advertised.

After reading these reviews I guess I should clarify how mine arrived:
1. It was assembled and came with an extra tension cable. 2. Looks nice, no scratching on it. 3. It WILL fire toothpicks, but if you got double sided like I did in the beginning, break it in half and make sure it's catching on a smooth and flat surface. or just go out and get rounded one sided toothpicks. 4. It WILL NOT penetrate anything I fire it at, I'm trying to figure out how to modify my toothpick ordinance by wrapping thumbtacks around it to at least penetrate a piece of paper or stick to the beer box we're all shooting it at. 5. I haven't pointed it at myself or anyone else so can't comment on leaving a mark or not. I'm sure this would poke an eye out. 6. It is nice and more of a conversation piece than anything. It is functional - but when you fire and it doesn't penetrate, you got yourself a fancy looking paperweight.
I would say this is worth $15, would pay up to $20 for a cool design. I ordered the "Phoenix".

Bought as a gift but it was so scratched and poorly finished I would not do so. No instructions. Finally got it to work but not as expected. Very very disappointed.

I ordered an thorn and there is no such thing as "self-loading". It is simply a bow with a triger or if you wanna call it crossbow if you like.come with the bow and stand, not extra cable or anything else. it is solid, made by steal and the cable is seems really strong with 0 elasticity. But i cannot say it is well made, really coarse I would say, It does do the work, it sent the toothpick out of the bow and that is all it can do. it won't even penetrate the mail envelope come with it. and even you point it to your skin, as long as it is not eyes or ears you would be safe, it doesnt even hurt, no red dot or anything would be left on the skin. SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR 30 BUCKS ON THIS THING. I would pay no more then 10 if I know all that things before I buy it. and now you know that.
