Sorry MassDrop...prices on other sites (with free shipping) are better. Really disappointed that even with a group buy the prices are higher than on other sites. And I can get the pen much faster there.
Hopefully your next drop will be better.
Thanks!
koolpepGood Luck! Do look at the best offers options there too. They quote a higher base price but might be open to a lower price (or so I have found in the past)... Personally I would prefer to buy from MassDrop but I wish they had been able to negotiate a lower price...ah well...hopefully next time.
Do let me know if you find a great deal. :)
EreshkigalI have the Van Gogh that has this same magnetic closure, and I've never had issues with the nib drying out. I do notice some ink evaporation if I don't use it all the time, but it has never not started writing right away, and I typically leave it unused for a week or more at a time. Hope this helps!
EreshkigalIt depends a bit on the ink. I ve had good results with mine using Waterman florida blue ink but not so much with some other inks where it dried out after two days unused.
Disappointed, wouldn't buy another without being able to try it out first. The quality control must be severely lacking at Visconti. The pen arrived loose in the box with ink everywhere, and for a pen that costs this much it should have no problems writing, the one thing a pen is expected to do. Constant hard starts and skipping. Pretty sad when much less expensive, Pilot and TWSBI pens, are better writers than this. The most this has going for it is that it looks good and the magnetic cap is cool. I will most likely have to pay someone to fix the ink flow issues. Sad thing is that I really want to like it, so frustrating. ☹️
dbeck69I am also very disappointed in the quality of this pen. There is a converter pictured and it did not come with one. Why is it in the picture. I will not purchase anything from Massdrop against as I feel the ad is disingenuous.
I'm kinda curious, actually....
The Visconti "Merry-go-round" kinda surprised me since it was a special thing created to raise funds for an Italian children's hospital.
Any idea if the proceeds are still going to that, and if it's still coming in the special packaging Visconti designed for it?
YankeeBravoHey @YankeeBravo -- The Merry-Go-Round will be shipped in the standard Rembrandt boxes, not the special packaging. I believe the proceeds for the hospital came from the initial sales from the manufacturer to vendors. Hope that helps.
JonasHeinemanAppreciate the info.
I'll stick with it, as I'm pleasantly surprised to see it turn up, even sans the packaging.
Incidentally, since the photo doesn't show it, you might wish to note that the cap band on the Merry-go-round isn't the same as the others in the Rembrandt line. The motifs and signature are replaced by children standing side-by-side to stick with the "child's drawing" theme.
Hi, the Merry-Go-Round Visconti Rembrandt sent to me had discolorations at the section near the nib, an ugly patina across the nib and scratches on the section. I sent an email last Friday and there is still no reply.
It's really awesome to see Visconti participating in these drops. If the Van Gogh Starry Night is ever available for anywhere near this price, I'll be first in line.
