What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

I do like browns though, and I've had it before. But as far as I can tell, White and Clears are better, but I'm kind of struggling to find the real difference.
I got this keyboard with clears in the last drop, and although I'm slowly getting used to them, I still don't really know what to feel about them. Browns are pretty much linear in comparison, but the tactility of clears is still much softer than I would've hoped, lacking the sharp, defined feedback that you get with clicky switches. They also feel dampened slightly when bottomed out, which on this particular board feels a bit like typing on wood, if I could compare it to anything. One thing that I've noticed is that they don't seem to be 100% consistent, especially with off-center presses and on wider keys, where they can feel different, and even bind quite badly on some of my keys. Whether this is just clears in general, or my particular switches - who knows, your mileage may vary.
My use is about half gaming, half typing, and they are fine either way. It will also depend on the type of games you play, but in my experience clears aren't too distracting in-game.
If you're looking for tactility, and are used to Topre - I think clears would be a bit of a downgrade. Compared to browns however, clears are a step up if you don't mind them being a bit heavier and softer. Can't comment on silvers too much, but they're likely a great choice for gaming. And you did mention whites (which are like a strangely soft MX blue), but they aren't an option with this drop. Unless you like a specific switch, I wouldn't get the same switches that you already have, it's healthy to try a bit of everything!
But thanks again for the reply, this either ends with a coin toss, or I'll just safe it with the browns :p
