What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

The vibe's original keys now sit happily on my pok3r with browns, feels waaay better on that.
My main issue with the VIBE and the Pok3R (apart from the fact that I am not keen on Cherry mx or mx clone switches) is their particular programmability. I like to use the Right Ctrl as my Fn key, and apparently with these boards, you cannot remap the Right Ctrl using the keyboard's built-in remapping functions. It is, however, possible to remap the Right Ctrl using other means, such as the Hasu USB-USB converter or remapping software, such as Karabiner for Mac or ATNsoft Key Manager for Windows.
Despite these preference issues, the VIBE is certainly a handsome board, which makes the purchase difficult to resist.
unfortunately you're still correct. While LCTRL was FN-able, RCTRL was not. Might be hard coded to avoid screwing up the programming combo.
Vortex no doubt has a lot invested in their method of programming keyboards, but I still wish they would convert to something akin to TMK or QMK for total programmability of every key, including R_Ctrl.
That said. I'm waiting patiently for my susuwatari MT3 set. In the meantime though I'm thinking of grabbing SA Ice Cap icon mods and numpad and jumping on troubled minds alphas.
Even with the green text on alphas, the purple/white clash would look great.
I'm also praying that SA Pulse gets another drop.
Will post Vibe with new caps once they are all here
