A follow-up to XDuoo’s popular X2, the X3 features the well-regarded Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC chip and two MicroSD slots with 128 gigs of storage apiece—a real rarity for a budget-friendly player. (That’s enough space for more than 5,000 lossless files.. Read More
so I'm confused the description shows 1500mah 8 hours but you guys said 2000mah up to 11 hrs. Their site also says 1500mah. Is massdrop selling the 1500 or 2000? I see it on another site for $88 brand new but if this massdrop version is 2000 I will pay the extra fee. Please lemme know every1
Never a DAP owner.
So.
How difficult is it to get music transferred from my Mac to this player?
I need it to be SIMPLE.
Which is easier; Shanling? or This?
TiffanyPoodleslideHahaha ,
looks like you have been tortured well by Apple's incompatibility and complicated file transfer methods.
Just connect the X3 with a regular usb micro cable to the computer and drag and drop the files.
The SD card has to be formatted to FAT32, but that is just a one off job when you buy a card in case your card does not come formatted that way...
NeddogeWhen I was looking a couple of years ago, I settled on the M3 because the M3 was smaller and much thinner...............I use it mainly for outside use, on the go. The M3 is also lanyard capable another plus for me. I have been satisfied with the M3, but admit that I can't compare performance with the X3 since I have not heard the X3. You may have different priorities than me.
Would the audiophiles here recommend something like this for a guy who's stuck in CD-land but has been meaning to upgrade forever? I skipped the whole iPod thing. I don't like the idea of having all my music on my phone. I want lossless files and might even convert all my CDs (or my faves, anyway) to transfer them on a portable player. I'm just overwhelmed at all the options.
What's a good sub-$400 player for a guy who wants to have say 500 CDs' worth of music available in lossless format?
Thanks for any suggestions!
JohnnyCreditI would say it depends on your needs and preferences to sound signatures. I bought a used Cayin i5 that I absolutely love. It's got some quirks (like not being able to cache my 320kbps songs from Play Music correctly to the onboard storage, and some UI frustrations) but does have wifi, Bluetooth, Play Store access and sounds pretty awesome with my headphones and IEMs. It has no problem reading my 128gb microSD (biggest I've got right now) with 4000+ mp3s, flac, etc. I like warm, musical sounding audio gear, while a lot of audiophiles claim that accurate music reproduction should be true to the recording which can translate to cold and analytical. I want to enjoy my music, not analyze it. And I'm no advanced audiophile by any means, but my preference is bassy and warm. I'd suggest reading up on all the DAPs in your price range (including even a used LG V20 phone with the quad DAC that can be had for less than $400 these days). As an android phone user and fan in general, I try to stick to DAPs that build on Android and allow Spotify, sideloading apps etc. Again, depends all on what you want in a DAP whether it's music only or one that can stream Bluetooth, etc.
My only gripe with this unit is 8 hour battery life. That is NOTHING.. Why put an entire library of music on something if you can't even get a full day out of it.
My 7 year old COWON did 90 hours. My new Cowons do 90 hours and 100 hours respectively and push decently hard to drive headphones better than my phone. They just have interface issues (likely due to the super low power processor)
I got the Rockbox from this address, and it works perfectly. Installed in 5 minutes, just follow the first 7 steps, that's all you need to do.

Even with Rockbox installed you can choose to start with the original software at startup if you wish. I never wanted to go back to the original software though..
Mine failed after 2 months. Massdrop will not provide any warranty and it appears to be hopeless chasing XDuoo. Why does MD peddle crappy wares that neither they nor the manufacturer will back up? Is there enough anger for a class action lawsuit?
patrickKCyep running into problems as well Left side of every earphone/headset i try doesn't work...Tried massdrop for replacement nope no luck been trying to contact Xduoo for past week only to be seemingly ghosted
