Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I'm thinking of buying this DAC/AMP but have a couple of questions first.
1) It seems from the comments that others are having issues with Windows drivers, is this relevant if I'm just using it as a portable DAC/AMP? Does the firmware need updating on the unit at all?
2) Is this a good DAC/AMP or should I consider something else in for a similar price?
For #1, however, I don't think the driver concerns are as big as others are claiming. I had no real issues installing the drivers on Windows 10 (see my post https://www.massdrop.com/buy/xduoo-xd-05-dac-amp/talk/1752764 ), though I haven't gotten any real confirmation that that methods works for others. I've been using my XD-05 as my primary Windows 10 audio device for a couple days now (just received it).
If in the future XDuoo releases a new firmware for the XD-05, you would probably need the drivers installed to apply the new firmware. That being said, nothing on their site would indicate in the slightest that there will ever be an updated firmware, or driver for that matter (I couldn't even find the driver on their site - had to use the one on the accompanying cd). So, I certainly wouldn't purchase with the expectation of significant support from the manufacturer.
I believe if your intended use case is as a strictly portable unit, then you shouldn't have any real concerns about drivers or firmware updates.
