archimago blogspot has review of similar yamaha 781 with measurements. 104db dynamic range, no jitter, low noise. not bad. I got 683 on 1day sale in amazon.
I’m thinking of joining this drop but I wanted to make sure it will work with my speakers first. I have a set of Kanto YU6’s and plan on buying the matching Sub8. Does anyone know if they would be compatible with this receiver, specifically in Atmos mode?
xerotymeThe YU6's only accept inputs via RCA connections and optical in. This yamaha receiver only has outputs with wire connections. While speaker wire to RCA connectors exist, I wouldn't risk connecting them since the two devices are powered. So my thinking is that they're not compatible, but someone else might want to give their feedback as well.
marknineThank you very much for your time and feedback! I guess I’ll pass for now and keep my fingers crossed that I can find a way to get Atmos working with these speakers. :)
RayFIf you only want two channels and are more concerned with audio quality look for a second-hand NAD receiver on eBay. NAD equipment is pretty pricey new but older two channel models go for decent discounts.
Just got mine hooked up after purchase on the last drop, and the subwoofer Line out are hosed no sound at all, tried new cables and verified the subwoofer is working. Do I just contact Yamaha directly for support
RyanDay7.2 is a generic term. This receiver is Atmos and DTS-X enabled. 7.2 means I has 7 channels (powered) & 2 sub pre-outs. For this it's receiver 7.2 = 5.2.2 in Dolby numbering format. x.x.2 mean means 2 channels either height, ceiling, or Atmos Enabled up firing speakers.
