this thing is popping!
Sounds excellent! I was definitely looking for something that has a lot of input and output options, and this is it! Thanks!
Hey everyone, Happy to report that all the orders from the drop have been shipped out! Thanks again for the support guys, and please feel free to share your experience of the D100 MKII with the rest of the group afterwards. If there’s anything else we can do to make your Massdrop experience better, just email us at support@massdrop.com :)
We had to set the drop quantity to 7 due to the very limited number we have access to. They will be ready for shipment on Tuesday.
Was this drop cancelled?
bren
It was definitely there yesterday afternoon - then it was gone in the evening - looks like it was replaced by the Aune T1...
I apologize for this incredible noob question. I have a Xonar Xense soundcard/amp and Westone 4R's, Denon AH-D600 and Shure SRH-940. Is the function of this product to replace my Xonar with something of higher quality, has anyone else made the jump from an amplified sound card? Would my headphones benefit from this?
This is not an amp, it's a pre-amp. You will still need a power amp to drive a pair of speakers.
Any chance to get the "Yulong P18 Power Conditioner" in the next few drops? :)
I'm feeling fickle. Almost hoping this doesn't drop so I can consider other options...
I'm in for one. Looking for an amp\DAC to pair with my cans. Good reviews out in cyber space so ill give it a shot.
So no more interest for this it seems?
Does anyone know what the wattage on this is?
I have recently purchased a Yulong d100mkII DAC / headphone amp. It sounds great. There is an issue with the unit however. I have detected a smell coming from the unit. It smells like hot electronics and soldering. The unit continues to function but emits the smell while it does so. Is this an issue with which any of you are familiar? Is the product going to finally burn out? I had been operating the unit on USB and recently switched to the optical connector just to try it out. Overall the unit does not feel exessivley hot but the smell is quite strong. Are any of you having a smell associated with burn in as you start to operate your units? I have confirmed that I am operating at the correct voltage setting for the power supply.<br /><br />Thanks for any help you can provide, I really enjoy this product and hope the issue can be resolved.

I haven't had any issues of that sort. I definitely would recommend contacting Yulong directly to see what he advises. If it doesn't void the warranty, opening the case and taking a peak inside might not be a bad idea. See if you can find any bulging capacitors or if there's something (a bug maybe?) trapped inside.
The P18 is available now (the power conditioner that pairs with this DAC). Seems like I'm the only one who's joined so far, but I know several other people were interested. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/yulong-p18
Great news, I'll definitely be in for one. Massdrop never fails to disappoint!
Hey guys, we don't usually pre-announce future group buys this far ahead in advance. <br /><br />But....<br /><br />We got a P18 sample units in from Yulong right before the long weekend started. Rest assured, we are pretty impressed about the product, and you can expect to see it on Massdrop soon :)
nelson
Damn you Nelson my wallet needs a break. I don't really believe in the need for this but depending on the price I might.
I would be very interested in a P18 drop as well, my conditioner just died after many years of faithful cleaning :-(
I've been interested in the P18 as well. <br />I wonder how it compares to a Furman.
JohnJohn
I've got several different Furman power conditioners. I haven't compared them by ear, but simply looking at construction I'd have more faith in the P18 for noise rejection and surge protection. The Furmans, like many others, use smaller ferrite cores right before the outlet on the back of each outlet, where the P18 uses a single very large ferrite core. I feel altogether that the components used in the P18 are far superior to what is used in the majority of power conditioners I've owned, including "pro grade" stuff like Furman, Backstage, Surge-X, and Mid Atlantic. It might even be better than my Tripp-Lite stuff, but I have yet to take them apart to have a gander.<br /><br />I personally don't own the P18 yet, but it's at the top of my list for next in line.
Massdrop folks,<br /><br />Now that I'm in on this deal and my amp and cans have arrived I bought to go with it, I'm missing one piece. I need a power conditioner. It just so happens that Yulong makes a really fantastic power condition called the Sabre P18. It MSRPs for $329. I'd be really interested in seeing a drop for these a week or so after the DACs have shipped. I'd be in, to say the least, even at retail price, however I think you might find that many of the other buyers would also be interested.<br /><br />http://shop.grantfidelity.com/Yulong-Sabre-P18-Power-Conditioner.html<br />http://www.audio-sz.com/en/product_detail.asp?pid=27<br /><br />http://www.head-fi.org/t/662501/review-yulong-sabre-p18-power-processing-center-and-matching-ac-cable<br /><br />There's project86's review of it. The thing that strikes me the most about the P18 is that they used a single very large ferrite core for RF rejection rather than several smaller cores, which works considerably better. Not just that though, it has a significantly better stage for surge protection, and all of the components used internally are of the highest quality. It's easily better than any of the other power conditioners I currently own, most of which are made by NA-based brands but with much lower specification parts at a significantly higher price.<br /><br />Thanks!

Sounds good :)<br /><br />We'll make some calls tonight

Awesome, thanks so much!
Hey what happened? I thought I had time left, I didn't know it was limited quantities...boo...
Sonova! I had an alarm set on my phone to place an order today. It was supposed to be a birthday gift. =(

Wish I had ordered the night before like I planned. Hopefully we can get another Amp/Dac Combo of the same quality on massdrop.

It'd be cool to see something like the Burson Conductor or the Benchmark DAC-1 go up for a drop.
Was think about ordering as well. Sigh. Wallet is happy I guess.
Too bad. I was just about to order.
W just got a call from our vendor, and it seems like we sold out of all the available Yulong D100 MKII inventory in China. We will have to close the group buy a bit earlier than planned as a result. Good job guys! This is pretty incredible! We will be placing the order within 24 hours, and the shipment should be able to be on its way by Wednesday. If everything goes according to plan, hopefully we can have them shipped out to tomorrow by the very end of next week.
I currently have an Asus Xonar Essence STX. Would this amp going to improve the card? or it just a waste of money?
Everyone should have read this already: <br />http://www.head-fi.org/t/608098/review-yulong-d100-mkii-dac-an-update-to-an-already-excellent-device<br /><br />TLDR: "Impressive, and enough to keep my strongest recommendation for a DAC in the $500 range." <br />-John "project86" Grandberg, reviewer extraordinaire and writer for InnerFidelity .<br /><br />============<br />I dont even want/need this but at this price, I kinda want it LOL
How does the D100 sound with the HE-400? Might chime in at 319 bucks.

It's not bad, no trouble driving the HE-400's but the combination is a bit cold for my tastes (I'm not the biggest fan of the HE-400).
NinjaPirate
I just got my yulong in and I am extremely happy thank you NinjaPirate for your input!
Hi! I am thinking of committing to buy one. But since they are from a Chinese company, I am not sure how the warranty is going to work. Could an admin give me some info? I was looking at head-fi and it seems like these have a significant failure rates. Thanks.
Bhaskar
Hi @Bhaskar <br /><br />Yulong offers 1 year warranty on the product. If your D100 break down within a year, feel free to contact support@massdrop.com. We'll be happy to help you along with the warranty process.
Hey guys,<br /><br />Great news! We have managed to negotiate for a further price break at 50 units for another 30 dollars off. And looks like we are already half way there. :)
I joined this drop specifically to pair it with the DT880 600 Ohm that were in another drop. I'm currently running a Zero DAC/Amp modified with an Earth HDAM and an Alps RK27 potentiometer w/ HD650s and HD595s. I'm looking forward to trying out the Beyers on the Yulong, although I'm prepared to potentially have to get a separate amplification stage due to the DT880's impedance (and in preparation for getting a set of HD-800s later this year). I'm hoping this Yulong will drive the DT880s well (and kind of hoping I can get some more life out of my Zero as well). I'd be curious to know the thoughts of anybody who has both the Zero and the Yulong, and both the Yulong and some DT880 or DT990 600 Ohm cans.<br /><br />After everything gets into my hands, I'll try to remember to write up a review and post a comment.

I'm in luck then. I ordered a Schiit Lyr and the HE-500s last night from Kraft Street Audio via Amazon, and they should arrive Monday, well in advance of the Yulong. My only dilemma now is where to find some Telefunken E288CC NOS tubes to roll into the Lyr.
Thank you sir, my wallet now hates you even more hahaha. But thanks for your input I guess I am now in. I need to ban myself from here for awhile after this lol.
