Received my YUMIs tonight. They look great, and the left channel sounds awesome, however, the right passive speaker sounds quite muffled. I double-checked that they are connected red to red and black to black, and the connections seem solid. I also tried a left/right channel audio test from Youtube and the right is definitely muffled vs. the left.
I tried Bluetooth with my iPhone and RCA from my Mac with the same results.
Anyone else have this problem? Kanto, any troubleshooting suggestions?
MindJuiceSorry for the issue with your new speakers. Not sure what could be causing that, we don't typically see issues related to balance / stereo. Rewire the speakers and make sure the polarity is correct, "+" to "+" and "-" to "-", and if that doesn't help put your ear against the right tweeter to see if it's playing. Email us at support@kantoliving.com if you haven't already and we'll do a bit more troubleshooting to figure out what's happening.
KantoLivingThanks for getting back to me. I checked the polarity and reconnected the wires at both ends a bunch of times over the weekend. I'll check the tweeter specifically tonight when I get home and send an email to support.
NinjaJayYeah, I was surprised too. That was the fastest I've ever gone from ordering to receiving something on Massdrop! I'm used to weeks or months of waiting!
KantoLivingChecked the tweeter. As you seem to have suspected, there is no sound coming from the right channel's tweeter. The woofer seems to be working properly. I'll email the same info to support now.
MindJuiceI have the exact same problem. I've emailed support@kantoliving.com and am awaiting their response. I verified the polarity of the wires, tried different audio sources, and the results are consistent. Muffled sound from the passive speaker.
rajiv.murthydang I just received mine here at work so I haven't had a chance to test mine and I wasn't planning until next week after I move some stuff around but looks like I will have to test them out tonight to make sure I don't get the same issue you guys are experiencing.
MindJuiceGot my replacement from Kanto and they are working great now!
I had one issue where the optical output from my TV was not coming through.
Turns out that I had to switch my HDMI Audio Format from Bitstream to PCM. Sending Bitstream to the YUMIs basically kills them until you power cycle them (even switching to Bluetooth to listen to my iPhone stopped working until I power cycled).
Now that I'm only sending PCM though, it's all good.
Thanks to Nicole and others at Kanto support for their help.
I tried Bluetooth with my iPhone and RCA from my Mac with the same results.
