At $99 mine also came with a tripod to attach to the bottom and an adapter for the Go Pro Hero 5/6. I didn’t ask for those items but they were in the box when I received it.

MD has become a SCAM for a lot of these "DROPS". Fraudulent MSPR. You've GOT to check retail prices, because MD counts on you EXPECTING them to offer a lower price because of the added hassle of a "group buy".

You dont really need an app. You can use your own camera / video app on your phone. Use the gimbal as stabilizer. Buy via google express for $99 and 1st time buyer can get 20% off. So after discount you pay about $80 plus tax (you can order from Adorama camera if u live in CA). I picked this over Osmo Mobile 2 is because osmo mobile 2 can't rotate 360 degree. People said Osmo mobile 2 had better app, but since I'm gonna use this also for my action cam, app doesn't really that matter. Smooth Q can rotate 360 and when using your action cam, you can rotate the gimbal 180 degree, so the vertical arm of the gimbal won't showing in the footage (I know you can hold the gimbal backward, but it will feel weird because the button controller will be harder to operate). Also when rotating 180 degree, you can take selfie with your back camera which is better camera, on most smartphone. See this YouTube video so you understand what I'm talking about

. Also minor thing, i think the case that come with Smooth Q is a bit less bulky than osmo mobile 2, so it's a bit travel friendly. See this video towards the end when he discussing about travelling

Read the reviews on the app. According to, well EVERYBODY, the app doesn't work so the gimble ends up being little more than a selfie stick. I love MassDrop and what it offers for us but you all really need to do some research before just jumping into a drop like this. I want one too, really badly, don't get me wrong. However, if the app won't work then the gimble is useless. Research, research, research!!!!

Heads up—DJI announced Osmo Mobile 2 for 129$ USD in CES2018, so for future drops, you might want to skip this and get the DJI instead of Zhiyun products for the much better software.
