nahteeDon't do that to your headphones, but otherwise it's beautiful and a good cheap setup, especially your keyboard and mouse, I approve

FlauntyDo you mean coiling the IEMs? I wrap them very loosely so there are no strain points and try to make sure the ends on either side are as straight as possible. The cables dont warp or tangle and I don't stuff them into a tiny case that causes damage. I take good care of my stuff

MonkeyTalkI'm guessing you're not a Penguins fan :P You're right though, I should upgrade my chair with a 2017 Stanley Cup blanket

nahteeI don't care about the cable, it's whatever, I meant your HD6XX, because they get indents from being on a hook or whatever they're on. It's why there's some headphone stands that are just pieces of wood that are shaped in a weird ellipse shape, because it simulates a head and kind of lessens the clamping force if anything.

FlauntyAhh I gotcha, I've had people lecture me on coiling IEMs before so that's why I'm a bit defensive about it lol. The hook actually extends past the headband so its in contact with the headphones at 2 points on the plastic rather than one point on the cloth memory foam, but you're right I should definitely get an actual headphone stand. They all seem very overpriced, so I was thinking of getting a banana hanger instead, but then it wouldn't help alleviate the clamping force like you said (which is one of my only problems with the HD6XX).

nahteeRE-400s are pretty killer. After two years of daily use mine are definitely starting show their wear. Love the sound signature so much I'm considering buying another pair.

boMDMy last set broke a couple weeks ago so I've now been through 3 pairs of RE-400s over 4 years. Definitely questionable durability but the audio is amazing for $50, I bought a pair of the MassdropxNuforce EDC to replace my last pair of hifimans after they broke but the sound is so boring and veiled compared to the RE-400

nahteeI just purchased a pair of the iBasso IT01 and waiting for those to arrive. Hopefully I like the sound as much as the RE-400s. If not, back they go, and I'll be buying another pair of the RE-400s. Or maybe the RE-600s this time around.
I agree, that the quality could be much nicer. Mine are mostly used at my desk at work so they're not going through wear and tear that much.
Was thinking about those EDCs too, but glad I passed based on what you're saying.
Cheers, Matthew

nahteeWas the burson v5i upgrade worth the money, how did the sound change? (I have the same 6XX/XD-05 combo, which I like a lot) BTW: Headphone stands tend to flatten the headband padding on HD-6XXs. I prefer a “peg” shaped hanger as then all the weight is resting on the hard plastic above the recessed area at the apex.

AntoinePUpgrading is absolutely worth it imo. Not a massive improvement, but definitely notable enough to warrant the $40 (+$10 shipping) pricetag. I didn't realize how congested the presentation of the base XD-05 was until I upgraded, immediately after installing the v5i I noticed a slightly more spacious sound and blacker background. Not necessarily a wider soundstage, just more seperation between each instrument. Unfortunately it caused my XD-05 to start glitching occasionally and cut out for a few seconds. It was only once every couple of days or so, but still annoying. Recently I've upgraded to the jdslabs O2 amp (still use the xduuo as my DAC) so the glitching isn't an issue unless I'm using the XD-05 on the go
