I'm quite disappointed at the recent denim drops. It seems like zero consideration was given to poll results, and it clearly shows in the 3-4 failed drops that's been recently attempted/are in progress.
Please do not adopt the mentality that just because the Momotaro and Japan Blue drops were successful that any raw denim brand you can find to collaborate with will be. I understand that Massdrop is new to the raw denim space, and there are many nuances in this niche market that you are probably unfamiliar with.
A failed drop is both bad PR for the company, a bad experience/waste of browsing time for the customer, and also wasted time on your behalf to put it together. I've compiled a fairly lengthy list of brands that I'm sure will be successful. If you'd like to replicate the success of previous denim drops, I'd strongly suggest you look into collaborating with these manufacturers first before considering smaller lesser known companies:
- Samurai - Momotaro - Pure Blue Japan - Skull - Flathead - Eternal - Studio d'Artisan - Naked and Famous - 3sixteen - Fullcount & Co. - Somet - Japan Blue - Iron Heart - Imperial

@Peter,
Thanks for your feedback.
We are actively engaged in discussion with a few of the brands you listed. Structuring drops for clothing products tend to be quite a bit more complex than others with many more moving parts. So while the ball is definitely moving towards the right direction for many of the popular brands that you are looking for, we still have some way to go before being able to list them on Massdrop.
On the other hand, raw denim brands that are slightly smaller than the ones you listed tend to be quite a bit more responsive, reactive and eager to work with the group. And that's why we've been able to bring them on board that much faster.
Stay tuned, we will be bringing a lot more awesome raw denim jeans on Massdrop. And I am sure you'll love what we have coming up :)
why buy raw denim? What is the attraction to the high price for them? Some filling in would be much appreciated

Raw denim is mostly worn as often as possible and washed as rarely as possible in order to develop fading that is unique to the wearer. The higher price is attributed to a few things, mostly the country of manufacture and small production runs. It costs more to pay fair wages to skilled workers in countries such as USA and Japan, and as small production runs... well, you get the idea. Additionally, the (usually) selvedge denim itself, which is made on old shuttle looms, costs more to manufacture as its not as efficient to make as denim made on projectile looms.
What is the attraction? For me, it's having something different. The country of origin is important to me also, as in workers' rights, safe conditions, fair wages, etc. I can't reasonably choose where my TV or microwave is made, but it's pretty easy to choose where my jeans are made.
I could buy technically raw denim inexpensively, but it wouldn't meet the other conditions I have for my jeans and I just couldn't be as smug about it ;-)
