This has been a wonderful journal cover and pouch and has been attached to my side since the day I got it. I'm using the Elan Publishing Field Books and have used it to carry spare keys, carry extra paracord and the fact I can have a pen at my side without worrying about it leaking in my pocket it wonderful.
So far it has shown no signs of wear and even though I have caught it on things and it's been swinging around wildly. I'm really impressed with the build quality!
Needed a small EDC carry pouch and it fits the bill. Have it with me always and have lots of questions as to where I got it. Sturdy, good looking. I do wish the zipper compartment was just a little larger. Not much. Just a tiny bit.
Carabiner provided is fine but I paired it with a HeroClip and find it will hang on almost anything.
Overall impression? Attractive EDC for those interested
Built with leather and thus made to age well, holds a notebook, pen or pencil, stows cables, with plenty of room for an on-the-go wallet or what have you, this is an attractive piece of kit. After it arrived, the first thing I did was remove the carabiner as I would not ever attach this to whatever I’m wearing, a bag, and so on. No matter: I bought this for the pouch and it has served well.
I would recommend this product.
I love this thing. I used it every single day at work. I use it to store a notebook, a small rechargeable flashlight, and a pen, as well as a couple of cards on the front zipper pocket. I get compliments about it probably weekly from people who want to know where I got it, because they want one of their own.
The product is perfectly well made, but in practice mine has not worked out very well. The pocket is probably intended for cards, but I use mine to carry jump drives. For this usage it is a bit awkward. The things I have put into the elastic bands—markers, pens, etc.—have tended to slide out. The pen pocket holds one pen pretty well, though if it is clipless it can still slide out. The place for Field Notes is fine, but not a feature I actually use very much. The snap closure seems awkward to me because, if there is anything inside the wrap, they can be a bit difficult to align and snap shut. Initially I thought the carabiner was going to be great, but it is bulky and the security closure means that it does not snap and unsnap very quickly/easily. Also, the stuff inside tends to slide out if the pouch swings at all. Perhaps I'm just not using it as intended, but I seldom bring it with me because it just doesn't hold enough of the right stuff securely. Just IMHO.
For something that is supposed to hang from the belt it's really big. It's like having a book on your hip. The build quality is nice though. I just can't see myself wearing this around as intended.
It's a neat accessory! I got mine to hold odds and ends in the glove box of my car, so they didn't all rattle around. I almost want another one to keep in my backpack now. Seems very well made, but time will tell on that one. I do wish the zippered pocket was a bit bigger.
