Another drop and, sadly, still cheaper elsewhere in all forms 😒 Artisan drops here might actually be worse than the spyderco ones (yes, for US buyers)
I'm wondering why knives like this are all the rage? If I want a meat cleaver or hatchet, I'll carry the real thing. I do own a large Artisan Cutlery tanto, and it's superb. Almost makes me forget my preference for spring assist knives...
This is $10 more expensive for the G10 D2 versions on some websites. To pay more AND wait for it is a bit too much.
So far only seeing this model on one other site (knifeworks), but heard from a reliable source that it's coming to WhiteMountain soon with discount code LTK But even at full price from KnifeWorks, base model is the same price, higher end models are all cheaper there. Don't know why they keep running these Artisan drops at average retail prices (or above) I'd give this a try around $45 for a group buy price, but I don't know about much more than that. Certainly not waiting a month for average street price, come on 😒

Unfortunately, only g10, although both have a decent detent. I have heard certain models have a weaker detent, but I haven't experienced it.

Appreciate the input :) I didn't expect the Eagle to be too risky, considering it's not one of their chunky, heavier blades. But, yeah, still shakes open even after verifying the detent ball fully seats, tightening the pivot, and bending out the lockbar until it's actually a little difficult to release And actually, now that I look again, the Eagle does have jimping on both the flipper tab and the spine, so there may be hope for other models

I’m torn between this and the kizer mini sheepdog. I really like the design options here but I’m also waiting on the Damascus and full steel handle for the mini. I can see how the clip placement might be annoying, good thing there’s 3rd party deep carry clips. Too bad it wasn’t done initially though.

im dying, $300.... yeah I just got the notification from bladehq that these were in. I didn’t realize it was titanium and was going to be so much.

Yeah :/ sadly, there does not seem to be a middle ground. I find it hard dropping over $80 on a blade since I'm gonna use em, and I'd be far too concerned messing up a$80+ blade to use it fully. On an unrelated note, if you're interested in other Artisan Cutlery blades, I can recommend the Falcon: https://whitemountainknives.com/artisan-cutlery-falcon-knife-gray-black-g10-handle-d2-plain-edge-1809p-gbk/ Similar detent issue as their other blades, but I personally don't run into many problems with that for my uses. It's a nice work blade. Sturdy, adjusts well may be a bit of a pain to reseat everything and tighten it up after taking it apart, but it's manageable. I had the Apache for a while, and I could not get over the ass end of the handle and how there was a huge pocket in my palm when gripping it. Overall the Falcon is holding up well, has nice grip, and sits in the pocket well, and I am very partial to that wharncliffe/utility style blade :) Thinking about getting a Tomahawk as the Osprey is completely impractical(But I still want it D:), and the clip placement on this Ravine is terrible. Have a good one!
First Artisan Cutlery piece that sparked my interest. I was looking long and hard at all the options.... then saw the pocket clip placement. The weight is a bit too much for my taste as well. But seriously who thought that the clip should leave that much handle sticking out of your pocket?? What a shame. Look how much blade is going to stick out of the pocket?!?!? Does the designer not know what a pocket is? :-(

I'm really intrigued by the size and shape of this one... And as ridiculous as that clip height is, it's my third biggest concern here Bigger concern I have is that blade grind. All that blade height, and they left the grind soooo short, in a flat ground blade. It's gonna be THICK behind that edge. Second is the concern over detent strength. Hearing lots of stories about their weak detent. I only have one from these guys, and the detent is very floppy
