This is a 24Bit/192Khz WOLFSON DAC featuring MQS (Mastering Quality Sound) wrapped in black aluminum. The result? Incredible portable sound. Once you add it’s line output and two microSD card slots, you’ve got a full featured, portable, memory expandable, audiophile listening suite. Finally, the AK100 also supports bluetooth 3.0 allowing you to connect bluetooth headphones and speaker.
How’s it Sound?
iRiver's Astell and Kern line is universally renowned for their high sound quality and the AK100 is where that reputation started.The Wolfson DAC does a great job decoding your high resolution files producing mastering level sound quality. With a fully adjustable EQ, the AK100 comes with a neutral balance that you can alter to create your favorite sound signature. The AK100 is optimized for highly sensitive IEMs like the UE900 but it works just as well with low impedance headphones like the Denon D7000.
Usability and Expansion
In addition to the on-board memory of 32 GB, the AK100 supports two additional micro SD cards, making the internal memory expandable to 96GB. This is critical when you are dealing with high resolution audio files that take up lots of space. In addition, an intuitive and responsive touch screen interface makes the AK100 a breeze to use. Finding your favorite tracks is fast and easy in this attractive, minimalist folder structure.
