Actually, I just signed up for their 'Geek Out 1000' on steroids: the Geek Pulse. And I will - once I have received it - buy their GeekPerfect software as well, to play DSD files on OS X.
So, when buying quality products I tend to do a bit of research, looking both at the positives and negatives, with the understanding that people are more inclined to vent their negative experiences.
In this case it was very interesting for me to learn about Aune's after sales service. To me it shows that they are not interested in building a long-term relationship...
Last week I have ordered a Fiio E18 to pair with my Samsung S3 using my AKG K551 cans (for work). As I have signed up for the AKG K7xx here on Massdrop I want to pair this in a desktop solution (at home). I'd like to use Native DSD instead of DoP, so I guess I am limited to a Windows system (probably a new Dell XPS 13) and a Geek Pulse DAC/amp.
As I haven't bought any Hi-Res albums yet I can buy DSD 64 versions, or at least PCM 24/192 versions, which I will then have to down-sample to 24/96 (for use with Fiio E18 using USB OTG) or 16/44.1 (for use in car CD player). Or if I buy enough DSD albums I might consider buying the Resonessence Labs Herus, and sell my Fiio E18!!
As far as the warranty goes, after reading Massdrop's Terms of Service with regards to warranty (https://www.massdrop.com/terms-of-service) I think you are right. Massdrop as a company will be in a better position to negotiate with the manufacturer regarding defective goods.
Anyways, regarding DSD vs PCM have a read - http://www.audiostream.com/content/dsd-v-pcm-file-comparison-16441-2496-24192-64x-dsd-128x-dsd. Obviously it is all about the original recording!!
