Product Description
Looking at the Bestech Toucan—with its wide belly and tip that transitions into a recurved secondary edge—it looks a lot like the beak on the bird its named after. Perhaps most importantly, this 8.4-inch flipper has plenty of blade, which translates to plenty of cutting power Read More

Fantastic knife!
This knife has the smoothest action of any of my knives. The blonde is solid when locked open, no side-to-side play. It’s a hefty knife, but in a good way that just makes it feel more solid. I may need to find a deep Cary pocket clip for it, but that’s just my personal preference.

Exactly what I hoped it would be.
This is my third Bestech. Couldn't find the tan with black blade anywhere, glad I waited. The action is great as with all Bestechs, it was as sharp as a razor out of the box and the ergos are fantastic for my large hands.

Awesome blade shape
I have several bestech knives now and everyone I get has been great. I love the unique blade shape on this one especially.

Looks can be deceiving
The picture & description are far too generous for this knife. The blade when in the open position has some play which to say is too playful for me to trust to use. The handles have a waxy plastic feel; again, too playful for me to use safely.

It's a lot heavier than I expected it to be. SO I like even more, I like hefty blades. This one looks like it could tackle a lot. I'll put it to the test at some point. Not a big fan of the tip-up carry, but I'll live with it.

Le_zOUWhat blade do you carry that is not "tip up", and why do you not like it? Curious. Thank you.

supertrackI used to carry a Kershaw blur as my daily knife. I love the way it carries tip down.

Mine came sharpened quite well out of the box, certainly nothing I can complain about considering the price. This has the bast lockup of all my Bestechs. I have a couple where the lock only gets partial width contact under the blade, but this one the liner fully engages. It has quickly become my favorite of the Bestechs I own - Swordfish, Lion, Kendo, Paladin and Scimitar, though the Swordfish or Kendo are a close second (I think I like them equally).

As with most if not all Bestech knives, this thing has a snappy and entertaining action, and nice build quality at an inexpensive price. However, the sharpening job from the factory leaves much to be desired. Although it is reasonably sharp, the edge grind is inconsistent both from side to side and along the edge, with almost no taper on one side. It is a compound edge shape. with a kind of tanto look,  so it would require a bit more effort to do a nice sharpening job ….. tool bad they didn't.

Okay, maybe 4 1/2 stars, but the only "flaw" I found is a personal taste thing, and can be fixed. I think this very well might be my new favorite from their G10 line. Detent is nice and strong on mine, only managed to whip it out once or twice out of at least 3 dozen attempts. Deployment is very snappy with a solid lockup. Action is smooth, but takes a couple little shakes to drop shut. Hoping that'll break in a little bit in time. It CAN be spydie flicked, but it's a little tricky with the small hole and the strong detent. It's a little big for what I've been carrying lately, but it sits comfortably in the pocket and is very comfortable in hand. A little more texture on the G10 would be nice, but should be okay gripping with the contours.

Ceramic bearings and detent, like all their stuff. Hidden stop pin (be careful during disassembly - the pin is floating, not pressed) Heavily skeletonized liners All edges are nicely chamfered and polished, inside and out Blade centers perfectly. Nice even finish on the blade face. Bevels are clean and even and quite sharp right out of the box. Here's my only complaint: I hate pocket clips that stick out, instead of recurving at the tip:

Tore a leather steering wheel pretty bad with one like that once. Gonna have to bend that tip down a bit (luckily i was thinking about torching the hardware anyway, the darken it up to better match the black backspacer)
