Ordered the 600 Ohm version and got it today. Pairs really well with Bottlehead Crack with Speedball. I'm enjoying the sound so far.
now that I’m all XLR, only these are the exception, this will be my first 600ohm.
Really tempted, if it weren't for the treble spike I'd have snapped it up. As it is now, $160+ for a sidegrade isn't the most logical option in my head, but alas for that longing within my heart...

Do tell me how you find it! :D
So I've decided they are pretty much perfect for my taste, super spacious sound, tight & controlled bass, mids are right where the should be, beyond comfortable. I personally haven't experienced any fatigue from the treble, but maybe I just like brighter sounds and I didn't know it. Highly recommend them. Get the 600 Ohm if you have the ability to drive them
These vs Senn 6xx?

True, if I had a 6XX I'd probably have gone for this. However, I got the 58X which is already somewhat in between... XD
I agree. In my case no warmth or smoothness can compensate for the lack of 6-8k range, I don't like HD6xx but I love my Beyers.
This is about the best version of the DT 880. It has the softest headband.
How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD598? I listen to almost all types of music but also game quite a bit. How is the soundstage in these headphones? Can I pinpoint sources of sound easily? Are they comfortable for long listening?
Can anyone go into depth about the difference between the 250 ohm version and the 600 ohm version? My phone has hi-fi quad dac, but as far as dacs or amps go, that's all I have. I'll mainly be listening on my LG G6, laptop, and occasionally an Ipod.

neither are going to pair well with a phone or laptop... or ipod.. none of these devices are going to have the power to get even the 250ohm version to it's potential.. also these are bright(er) headphones.. I only like mine with my DV336SE or one of my older warmer Solid State amps/ receivers ... brighter SS gear is going to be harsh on the highs.. paired with a OTL tube amp the 250's (that is what I own) sound great.. but from a phone forget it.. not the right headphone for this use case.. additional these are a bad choice for OTG use as the are semi-open and you'll hear those around you and bother those around you with leaked sound out...
Quick question...I have the Liquid Carbon Dac/Amp. Am I better off with the 200 or 600 ohm DT880? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, Spyder1 and jeff2d2. Appreciated!

600 is harder to drive but is the best version because its less harsh in the highs and more flat frequency wise.
I wonder why I get a promotion-mail regarding this item when shipping to my country is not possible !!! Massdrop or Massjokes
Olsen
Because you registered to Massdrop... fool

Call me whatever you like.. Got another message from MD warning the drop ending soon ! Not a perfect world - Perhaps a nightmare for MD to exclude messages to restricted countries, who knows ? I think its silly they can't (or won't) They sure risk a bad standing for those who really want that particular item not beeing able to purchase anyway A Paradox they should solve IMO
Will shipment to EU customers be send out from Europe (where items are manufactured ?) Otherwise EU customers face custom tax.!

No problem with the tangent You raise some good issues here I'm in EU and further purchases outside, anywhere - either far east, US or Brexit/UK - customs may be a dealbreaker As for the Beyers 880, I can source these inside EU (Germany) making eventual warranty easier handled, surely price will compete against MD + custom anyway.

Custom fees hurt economies in some ways but do serve a good purpose in others, i believe that Sennheiser products are still built in Germany which is a good thing, especially since we pay the same price as you. I have purchased several items from Germany in fact two in the last week, but if they are going to be built in China then shipped without import tax throughout Europe, out of principle i would not buy their products, the European worker is being screwed every which way but Sunday, and we must support each other in this manner, globalism is just another by word for greed, I'm one man but can only make these decisions for myself, but if everyone who had this mindset did this businesses would have to stop shipping jobs aboard, it maybe your neighbours job today but yours tomorrow, that's why i like MD because a lot are built in the US and Europe, than someone on two dollars a day and being told their much better of due to globalism. There's that tangent again...peace.
Does this have removable cable?

thats wrong
The 770/880/990 models were their premium/pro lines from a previous generation. Due to popularity they continue to sell these models at a more affordable price. While attached cables are a very old school mentality, Beyer are known for high quality construction and QA since these are only made in Germany. For detached cables, consider their newest, priciest models like DT 1770, 1990, Amiron, T5P, etc.
