Product Description
Tennis is about the last thing you’d think would inspire someone to create a line of hot sauces. But it was on the tennis courts in Virginia where Brandon Clark was given a unique challenge: to create a hot sauce using ingredients from the Kerala region of India, where one of his best buddies grew up Read More

These are not good. 3 of the 5 sauces are watery and the 2 that aren't (Laos and Virginia) are almost too thick. To me, viscosity is very important with hot sauces so that you can dispense properly and accurately. There is also a very strange aftertaste with these sauces. Almost like something that may have contaminated the product as it is similar in all these sauces. Tastes like rubber smells. Not good. I'm not sure I'll use these at all but I opened them all to try them so returning them is out of the question. Probably going to landfill them. Another regretful purchase from MD. Probably my last one. Wait forever to save a few bucks and get a garbage product. Not good.

These are decent hot-sauces, interesting flavors. Not hot at all for my taste but I put stuff like Hellfire Fiery Fool and The Last Dab on my food regularly so your experience may be different than mine. If you could get only 1 or 2 of them I would recommend Virginia and Ethiopia both are actually really nice and tasty. Im editing this review to add that I actually grown to like all of the sauces in this pack, except for Kerala. They're an acquired taste and may not be for everyone but they're unique compared to other hot sauces.

I've only tried 2 of them but the flavors are unique. Love it so far. Not too hot is fine by me.

to my palate these are all fairly mild, overall. my day-to-day table sauce is valentina extra hot so YMMV. the flavors, though, are really quite wonderful and complex. makes me wish the bottles were bigger! individual sauce thoughts: ethiopia: this one's my far-and-away favorite. the warmest of the pack, a nice medium heat. good curry spicy "brown" flavor. imagine A1 sauce with a dash of curry powder and a good amount of heat and you'll at least be in the right neighborhood. really savory and incredibly delicious. nice thick consistency for coating chicken wings. took some doing to get it out of the bottle at first! i'm gonna be putting this on darn near everything, i can tell. laos: not as hot as i expected but really mouthwatering. a savory sour flavor. you can really taste the lemongrass and dried shrimp in it. much thinner, kind of runny consistency. not great for coating wings but excellent for cooking. i added this to a stir fry and it really cooked down well. i could also see this going great on instant noodles for a quick lunch. kerala: a lot more acidic than i expected based on the description. kind of in the same ballpark of the laos in terms of acidity and consistency, but you can taste the curry and spices too. not quite as "bright" as the laos. honestly it sounds kind of weird, but i got curious and tried it on some cheese pizza and it transformed the flavor in a realy good way (to me). also quite thin in terms of consistency, and probably well-suited for cooking. might try braising with it, if i find a suitable piece of meat. chesapeake bay: this one's the mildest. the heat doesn't really come through for me, but there's lots of good acidity and spices. maybe it's my southern palate talking but i think this would make an excellent dipping sauce for a crawfish boil, or on fried catfish. also quite thin and runny. not sure what i'd cook with this. might try it with some scallops? very seafood-friendly, as you might guess. virginia: the second-spiciest one. i really wanted to like this one, but i didn't realize until after i bought it that it contained peaches, and i've got a personal dislike for peaches. that's just me though, i won't hold it against this sauce. i'll probably give it away to a friend. there's a lot of other layers to appreciate in this one. if you don't mind the sweet taste of peaches, this could be your new favorite barbecue sauce. quite thick consistency, like the ethiopia. good for tossing wings in. i could see this being great on roasted or smoked meats of any kind. honestly it'd probably be pretty good on goat. the sweetness in the sauce could do a good job of cutting any undesired gaminess in meat. all in all a great set of fun culinary experiences to experiment with. obviously high quality ingredients and excellent, deep, complex flavors. some good slow-building heat, but nothing that'll really make you sweat. i'll probably order more of the ethiopia when i run out, and maybe the kerala too. i'd love to see what the minds that came up with these, would do with a sichuan peppercorn sauce. glad this drop put Clark & Hopkins on my radar. i'll be looking for more of their excellent stuff in the future.

Mine just came in today, had to open one up to give it a try, went with Kerala to get things going. Wow, I'm very impressed, tons of flavor, tons of depth, this is about as far from a 'one note' sauce as you can get. If the others are as good I'm going to become a regular customer.
tutetibiimperesThank you! :)

What can I say? I have never tried anything like that. Forget Tabasco, forget Santa Maria hot sauce, forget Sriracha, this is the real deal. Sauces that are spicy, hot, but at the same time each with their unique character and are capable of enriching the flavor of dishes instead of simply making them hot. I can definitely see myself using Virginia sauce for marinating meat and barbecue, and Laos sauce is probably the most unique thing I have tried. What I definitely would like to see in the future is bottles of bigger volume, maybe at around 500 ml.

All five sauces are great quality. I was a little bit disappointed with the Chesapeake one to be completely honest. I mixed in a little extra old bay and found that I enjoy it more. My favorite by far is the Ethiopian. I'll definitely be buying more of that directly from their site.
