Is it just the lighting or are there 3 different shades of blade coatings?
Is the darkest blade and handle only available in compact with the serrations?
redhenThe massdrop made knives are all great value. The ferrum forge designed gent is probably the best value. S35vn steel, titanium framelock with g10 overlays made by WE knife all for $80. That's an outstanding value. The cheapest WE knife on blade HQ right now is $100 has worse steel (d2) and no titanium (g10 with steel liners). The cheapest s35vn and titanium WE is $144.
I got the knife because I like the way it looks, and I got it at Walmart because it was 25% cheaper than Massdrop. I am sure I recall seeing a knife on MD that was cheaper than Amazon or Walmart! Just can't remember when...
I hate when I see an interesting design with the crkt logo because I know the materials and/or fit and finish will be a let down.
They seem to waste a lot of cool ideas with terrible execution.
NotsurewhyibotherHell yes! The only knife I've ever has fail was a CRKT and I wasnt beating it up. I'm probably misquoting him, but my buddy says "CRKT" = CheapRicketyfinger-KillingTrash knives.
I wish--esp for cool collaborations with world-class designers like Ikoma--they would make a "premium" version, a la Kizer or Bestech, with better blade steel, and...everything else. I'd pay $200 for a well-executed Ikoma design, as I do with ZT (more than $200 in many cases) for well-executed Sinkovich, George, Hinderer, etc. designs.
The CTKT Obake is pretty cool though, I'll give them that one. But how hard is it to make a solid piece of pointy, cord-wrapped metal?
I really like the shape of the entire blade, especially with that serration, but I am not a huge fan of the handle. Does anyone know of a knife that has a similar blade but with a more subtle handle?
