CRKT Radic Spring-Assisted Knife
A Demo in Artful Utility
Knifemaker Ken Steigerwalt’s work challenges preconceived notions of traditional design. The Radic, named for its radical shape, is right in his wheelhouse. Featuring a unique 3.4-inch modified wharncliffe blade, the knife is meant for heavy duty tasks. However, the satin finish on the blade alludes to the Radic’s more sophisticated side. To open the blade, there’s a ridged thumbstud. Thanks to the Outburst assisted opening mechanism, it flies open with little effort. Once open, there’s plenty of jimping for thumb placement. Moving on, the handle is made with a liner lock that’s surrounded by G-10 scales for a solid grip. Fitted with a tip-down clip, the knife carries conveniently in a pocket.
