One thing I love about CRKT is the service and warranty. If you take a knife apart and loose the tiny bearings or break a pocket clip they will send you replacements free of charge. If they can't replace the part they will replace the knife. Wish they were still made in the USA
I've owned the swindle for over a year and it is a unique knife. Deployment is silky smooth. My only complaint is the lockup. It's very shallow and takes very little pressure to disengage. I prefer a positive lock like the ferrum forge falcon.
is the grooved version a better steel like everywhere else?
sir_puffs_alot
The grooved swindle I own has the 8cr14mov steel
Someone should tell them that they mounted the blade backward.

Huh? I don't get it. Blade does not deploy palm side. I own this knife. It's great. Very comfy in the hand.

it's common design to have the curve of a handle toward the palm of the hand. Hence it looks like it's backward compared to standard conventions.
CRKT has seemed like a gamble lately. Seems like Kizer is on a major roll and even relative newcomers like Bestech are really making good product and ‘closing the (perceived) gap’ on the Western world in quality and innovation (well...irrespective of who‘s design or patent is involved). Another important gap is in our own assumptions of China.
I ramble but... Why isn’t CRKT having these leaps and bounds. I have felt burned by most of my recent experiences with their product. Now that the mighty Columbia River appears to be flowing in China... CRKT, kindly memo the rest of the massive knife factories in the massive Industrial Parks of Guangdong and ask for help!!!
Please???
Wasn't someone just complaining in another CRKT drop that Ken Onion was stuck in a rut and not doing anything different? 😀

This knife has been around for years though. But yes, it does fit one of his aesthetics (I feel like Onion knives follow one of two design aesthetics: the thin, narrow-bladed gentlemanly folders like this, the CRKT Eros, Kershaw Leek, etc; and the tall-bladed knives with prominent recurves like the Kershaw Blur, CRKT Foresight, the ZT 0300 series etc; and then there are a couple that split the aesthetic difference like the CRKT Outrage and Bombastic.)
This has been my daily carry for nearly a year. Beautifully simple knife. I get compliments on it whenever used. I'd highly recommend it.

Same here. Have you also had issues with the clip's hard corners tear through jean pockets? That's my only complaint.
mrSlush50
I've never had that issue. Strange
I have read that the milled version comes with Sandvik steel - can MD confirm? Thanks!
YupNeck
CRKT's factory specs are Sanvic steel on this knife, but Im guessing that Massdrop worked out this deal with thier own specs as stated in the description.
Looks like these are ~$38 everywhere...hardly seems worth it

I paid 35 Canadian

35.29 on Amazon right now for the US.
Interesting that the grooved-handle version weighs more than the smooth one.
LOL picked this thing up for ~80 CAD up here. Waaaay more than you guys can get it.
Quick review, I'd say this is a good pickup if you can get past the unique pocket clip, which I know can be a dealbreaker. The IKBS makes deployment butter smooth, but its got a bit of a shaky detent when closed. I'd say be careful closing one handed as you can hyper-extend the lockbar when pushing it out which leaves nothing to stop the blade from swinging down on your thumb.
