I don't know about these; especially the bright colors and all---seems kind of trendy?
Might change my mind if I see Daniel Craig wearing one in the next Bond film...
These are like 80 Cents on AliExpress. You will probably get them before Massdrop/Da Luca does and reships them to you.
You won’t notice the difference and neither will Da Luca.
if You can get them cheaper as a person, it probably isn’t a ”drop” and more of a “sc_m”
but this makes me wonder who is this naive to pay a 1900% markup ? Who is joining this drop ?? All the people in charge of reshipping this item at DaLuca and their employees? Maybe the AliExpress supplier? I thought Massdrop was supposed to make it 20 cents. Not $20.
Massdrop should have a better team and stay away from these instabrands which are really just reshipping AliExpress and alibaba merchandise
Why doesn't Massdrop just go direct to a Shenzhen manufacturer and get some real deals? In my opinion Da Luca is not making these straps themselves, neither the webbing, nor the cutting, assembly, and sewing, so they are probably just taking a distribution profit on products that they buy from China.
If you go to Alibaba and enter "perlon watch strap" you can find dozens and dozens of companies that will ship direct to the U.S. at unit costs of 50 cents to $1.50, minimum orders of 1, 50,.100, 500.
I suppose that you could say that Da Luca performs a curation function since they probably got samples from different Shenzhen manufacturers and chose the best, but I think Massdrop would have no problem getting samples to evaluate. And I think that whatever curation role that Da Luca is doing as far as color selection leaves a lot to be desired. As @nfischer says, the colors are "vibrant" and "not suitable for dress usage." That's putting it politely.
@kpjimmy has posted photos of his Crown & Buckle "melange" perlon straps, such as here:
https://www.massdrop.com/talk/153/wrist-check/1973700
These are available in tasteful colors and the strands have two shades of the same color to give them some extra visual texture. I ordered a couple of them, one in forest and one in linen, which should arrive any day now.

I have no idea where these are made.
The days of blaming China for “quality“ are long gone when you end up sourcing from them. Exactly which European artisanal facility are you buying these from in small batches ? Hermès?
and this artisanal faciltiy? Does it have any machines made And staffed by Europeans or the “lower quality” Chinese people or no people at all. Just a warehouse dropshipping?
when you dont disclose the specifics of your sourcing, we kind of know the answer
Re @CraigLewis I have the kristall, which is pretty thin and flexible, fits through the bar on my Archimede 1950 fine.
Also for what it's worth, I did join this drop. Because at $12 a strap, how bad can it be?
nfischerOh yeah. Single-weave perlon is thinner than NATO nylon; barring the odd mounting approach where you gotta go custom-cut, single-weave should work with any watch. Even my Ming, which has *very short* lugs and is using curved spring bars. The clearance is *tiny*.
MotorradWe did not have enough black in stock to offer them for this sale, but some are still available on our website. We hope you find a few colors on this sale that help you with your collection.
I would say that this is very bad for the price. I would NEVER buy from Da Luca again. The stap is so uneven cut it looks like it's cut by a five year old or maybe a five year old would cut it better than this. If I could get my money back give me them back. This is worth max $4. And if this is made in Europe maybe they should hire some Chinese.
Yeah, I got mine a few days ago one in sand and PVD, the other in brown and polished.
First off, the material quality is good in my opinion.
Secondly, the weave is amazing.
However, there are some problems:
1. The PVD coating is preventing the pin on the bucle from moving, making it very hard to put in.
2. The finish of these straps is very rough. It literally scratches my skin when I wear it.
3. Trying to place the strap under the buckle proves to be an insurmountable task.
4. Some of the material is flaying off of the loop of the watch because the finish is bad.
Due to the above mentioned reasons I highly doubt these were made in a European country, because the quality seems to be Chinese crap.
If that's not the case then Europe has stooped to China standards and it is sad.
Don't buy this item, because it is the small details that make an item.
We wanted to add a few notes about DA LUCA Perlon watch straps. First of all the straps are meant to be very thin yet very strong with their braided like nylon pattern that they’re made of. They are extremely comfortable on the wrist and they are a great choice for watches that have tight spaces in the lug width area between the case and the bar. Vintage watches and smaller watches in general are perfect for this style watch band, as well as larger watches. The buckle can be adjusted or slid down the strap to adjust the length in case your wrist size is smaller or larger and that helps to make the fit more custom-like. Each strap is made in Europe and incorporates our custom made ultra heavy duty “DA LUCA” buckles on them. We offer them in many colors and widths from 18mm to 24mm (even increments) and 2x buckle finishes of polished silver or PVD (black). We will be watching this drop and answering any questions that arise and we hope you enjoy these straps, as they are purposely different but a lot of fun to wear.
