Personally I never got any pleasurable audio improvements using any low-end FX-Audio dacs/amps over my motherboard's stock soundcard. If you have an ALC800 series or better on your motherboard, refrain from dropping another $50.

CptNoHandsThanks, you just probably prevented me from embarking down a slippery slope of buying multiple DACs to try and out-do my on-board Realtek HD ALC887.

Lotus_EliseNo problem. If you want something worth your money, I suggest an SNSL M6. It's not super expensive and makes an extremely noticeable difference. The company has run into some issues in the past and people aren't super fond of it, but their newer products are really worth a shot. I have what I mentioned above and it's comparable if not better to my Schiit Magni + Modi combo (and is less annoying to set up).

CptNoHandsThanks, I'll take a look. I actually tried to buy the SMSL T1 tube headphone amp/DAC last week when I got an e-mail about it, but the drop had already ended.
