Hey guys. These things work pretty well as pee bottles. They have a wide opening and pack down small. I use the orange one to be color-coded.

I got one from Amazon awhile back.
I washed it with hot soapy water. I tried soaking filled with vinegar. I tried soaking filled with vinegar and baking soda. I tried soaking filled with water and lemon juice. I tried masking it with mouthwash.
To me it still tastes so much like plastic that I won't drink out of it. Nor will I let my dog.
My Geigerrig bladder is also manufactured by Hydrapak and water from it tastes fine. Just not the Hydrapak Stash bottle.
Maybe I just got one from a bad run or something but honestly, as much as I like the concept I wouldn't risk buying another one for fear it would be like the one I already have.

chuggerUPDATE: mine developed that terrible plasticy taste after about a week of regular use. I also soaked in vinegar, cleaned thoroughly with no luck. Chemical taste persists. Bad product. Don’t buy.

gnarledcouleesame here. all hydrapak containers have a terrible chemical taste that never gets any better. try to cook water stored in hydrapak and watch the weird foam develop. bad call on the FDA to ever approve those things...

A lot of the reviews I’ve read complain about the plastic smell and taste but sometimes if you wash a plastic item out really well and then fill it with water and sliced lemons and freeze it and then let it thaw you won’t have that smell/taste anymore. I have not tried it with this item yet but it’s worked with other items.

I really cannot stress enough how horrible these make the water taste. I would not at all recommend them.
They've been washed several times, set with vinegar (white and apple), lemon, and the rancid/plastic taste persists.

I bought one of these for traveling. The bottle changes the taste of the water to be really plastic-y even after I washed it with soap. It's really gross. Would not recommend.

The plastic flavor of my bottles was awful. Tried warm water and baking soda which helped a lot, but the plastic taste still persisted. Froze the waterbottles with vinegar and water, mostly water, a bunch vinegar. The next day I melted the ice and rinsed the bottles, smelled a lot like vinegar. Didn't bother with taste testing it. Put baking soda and warm water in the bottle, let sit for an hour. Any weird flavors and smells gone, perfect water bottle, now.

I’d like to advise against purchasing this product. As other have rightly stated, it turns water rancid tasting after just a few uses. Even after cleaning thoroughly, the plasticy chemical taste persists. My dogs won’t even drink it. Bad product. Don’t buy.
