Inspired by vintage watches, but sized for the modern era, the Ingersoll Trenton looks like a piece of classic Americana—and it is. Made by Ingersoll, which was founded in New York in 1892, the watch has an old-school look and feel Read More
I'm not really a watch collector; I just have about a dozen because I like stylish, retro watches. The main attraction for me in this lovely Ingersoll timepiece was it's clear-to-read simplicity. Big dial, numerals and a circular insert dial for seconds that is also easy to read. There are no other 'bells and whistles'. This great watch just tells the time! Fantastic. It doesn't tell you the humidity in Botswana, nor can it direct you to the nearest place to buy ammo or give you warnings about your blood pressure.
Call me old fashioned but I like a watch to tell me the time clearly, quickly and for it to look good while you do that. Best of all it isn't, and can't be, connected to any computer device I own. Enough, already with the constant connectivity!
So far it's kept excellent time and I've already had several compliments on this truly classy, 'old style' watch. I opted for the white face but I like the fit and look so well I might buy myself the black face model next time it comes up on Drop. Oh, yes, the fit. So many new watches these days come with tiny, short straps... useless if you've got a wrist any bigger than a ten year-old's you have to shell out for a new strap. Not the case here. A good, sturdy and long strap with 'trendy' rectangular clasp holes. All 'round a great watch. Thank you.
The watch came in a nice wooden box, not one of those crappy aluminium cans. The packaging gave a nice, premium feel to the experience of unpacking. The watch itself is very nice and seems sturdy, though I would only recommend wearing this with a formal attire. The body of the watch is thicker than I thought it would be, bo not bad per se - just something you'll have to get used to if your everyday watch is thin and light. The straps are leather, with that nice leathery smell. Now these are really thick and have to be broken through, but I think that with enough time, exposure to the elements and your own sweat and body heat they will gain a unique feel and appearance, like those old school leather gloves and belts. Can't wait to put this watch on for a longer period of time!
Very impressive looking watch, nice leather band, quality watch
I love everything about this watch. Has a awesome face that’s not too large, a high quality watchband and very impressive looking. I get lots of remarks on how nice the watch looks. I own many watches and this is my favorite by far.
Thicker than anticipated, but not unattractively so. The band is also quite thick - it's made of leather from Horween, which produces some famous leathers. It's stitched and edge painted.
The color scheme of brown, silver, cream, and white carries a strong retro appeal.
had to return the watch because the included battery died in less than a month after receiving it and Ingersoll’s warranty does not cover their batteries even for obvious failures like mine.
Other than that, the watch looked great and came in a very nice box. The leather band was very thick and a little unruly, but I never had a true chance to break it in so your mileage may vary.
Cribbed from a review below: "Band is stiffer than I can put words to." It may sound like hyperbole to say the band is actually stiffer than that description, but if the band fits (assuming you can get it on) ... It's about as flexible as a piece of plywood. It honestly won't be wearable until I beat it, and beat it, and beat it some more. If you've ever tenderized a tough piece of steak, that would be a warm-up to softening this thing up. Ridiculous.
The watch itself is a nice style and the case, dial and strap seem to be of good quality. My issue is that the inside of the crystal has visible smudges on it. Now I'll have to take it to a repair shop to have the stem and movement removed and have the crystal cleaned from the inside.
Update: I had the crystal cleaned at a local repair shop - turned out great. I didn't think to have the battery replaced when the repair person had it opened up, because you know, it's a new watch. The watch died the next day. I have now spent $30 to get this new watch looking and working like a new watch. I hope others have better luck than I did. I won't buy this brand again
