We live in a world flooded with important information and precious documents, but they all live in different formats, on different devices. This drop features three portable products to help you scan virtually anything—receipts, books, photos, invoices, recipes, etc.—wherever you are. And they’re all backed by IRIS, a company that’s been instrumental in the development of optical character recognition technologies since 1986. Each is based on the Readiris 15 software, which intelligently recognizes the text and layout of an image, PDF, or scanned document and converts it into an editable digital file. IRIScan Book 3
Slim and compact, the IRIScan Book 3 is designed to scan books, magazines, newspapers, and more and convert them into editable digital files. It features an A4 Color Contact Image Sensor with support for up to 900 DPI, which allows you to scan up to 15 pages a minute—without ripping them out, of course. IRIScan Mouse Wi-Fi (+ $15)
The IRIScan Mouse functions just like a regular wireless mouse, but it also doubles as a portable scanner. To use it, simply press the scan button and hover over a text or image—the software does the rest of the work for you. The mouse will not only recognize text from more than 140 different languages, but it also translates more than 100 of them—great for studying another language or teaching. It can even scan business cards into digital contacts and share scans to Facebook, Twitter, and more in just one click. Check out the video for a more detailed look at its capabilities.
IRISpen Air 7 (+ $23)
The most portable in the lineup, the IRISpen Air 7 allows you to drag the tip over any form of text and it will automatically type it into a text editing application like Word or Excel. Thanks to text-to-speech technology, it can audibly play back text that it translates in real time from 40 different languages—not to mention it recognizes text in 130 languages. It can even scan MICR CMC-7 font barcodes, which are frequently used for bank codes, account numbers, check numbers, and check control indicators. Readiris 15 Software
Included with every purchase is IRIS’s Readiris 15 software (a $99 value), the brains behind all the innovation. It automatically converts images, PDFs, and more into editable files of all types of formats. Using advanced page analysis technology, the software is able to recreate each image the way it is actually presented, so you can maintain the integrity of the original document. Whether you need to capture a table, translate a poem in Arabic, create an Ebook, or convert a document to an audible MP3, Readiris 15 has you covered.
