When will it be selling agaaround 2018?
I ordered these with the TEAC UD-501 DAC, which offers balanced XLR speaker jacks. I initially made the mistake of ordering the SMSL Q5 amp/DAC, which does not offer XLR outputs. I had believed that I could just buy an adapter to hook the speakers to the SMSL, but that was incorrect. So make sure your DAC is compatible with these POWERED speakers. Anyway, since I received the TEAC DAC, these speakers have been awesome. They sound so good, angled at me from either side of my Mac monitor, it sounds like surround sound with speakers pointed at me from all angles. I have the TEAC DAC connected to my Mac with an optical cable, so that the DAC converts the internet signal at 44.1kHz. I understand that there are higher quality audio feeds out there, but I haven't been able to figure that out yet. I highly recommend these speakers, and I'm very pleased with this purchase.
How are these compared to the KRK Rokit 5s? Thinking of either selling the KRKs or giving them to a family member and replacing the LSR808s with them. I use them in a small room but sometimes take them out and use them in larger rooms. Currently pairing the KRKs with the Dayton Audio SUB-1200, both are hooked up the the Micca OriGen+ throught a 3.5mm splitter. The KRKs are a bit too bassy when playing music at high volumes. The bass kinda takes over and sounds very blown out on the KRKs when playing music loud. Would this happen with the 808s? I know I probably wouldn't have to play them as loud as I do with the KRKs. Also the price on Amazon is only $20 more and you can get them with one-day shipping..
if only it ships to singapore :(
Great not even the option to ship to Canada.
Very Tempting . . .

I shopped around a couple months ago and these were on my top 2. I didn't get this specific model because of other factors, but I definitely recommend them. The 8" instead of the 5" is worth it, unless space is an issue. That fuller low end vs. the LSR305s is nice.
wontonotnow
Space is always an issue, but fuller sound would be nice.
How much is shipping on these ?

These speakers are absolutely amazing but definitely need to be paired with a quality dac to come alive. I had them hooked up to my computer via a TRS to 3.5mm cable and the sound quality was decent but nothing amazing. I picked up the DacDestroyer DAC by HotAudio and these speakers blew me away. After that I upgraded the DAC to the more powerful BitPerfect DAC by HotAudio, picked up the JBL LSR310S subwoofer and a TC Electronic Pilot volume knob and I'm 100% satisfied with the sound quality for a desk setup.

Definitely need to be paired with a Sub Woofer, then watch the house ROCK when turned up.
These speakers are Excellent for any Party because it can successfully deafen all your neigbours down the street and the next suburb, if played at full volume : )
US only again? Come on MD, you can do better than that!

Why not? Come over here and fix our problems
Tanglysquid
I never said you have problems! USA it's a great country with great people!
The JBL LSR 305 and 308 are both great speakers. If using for home theater and you enjoy the typical blockbuster movie with exploding planets and earth-shaking dinasaur stomps then a subwoofer (or a pair to smooth bass peaks and nulls) is strongly recommended for any speaker system. This applies even to those with big tower speakers.
The next step up from the 305/308 is the JBL 705/708, and above that is the JBL flagship, the M2 , which cost $20,000 a pair.
So glad I just bought the 305s... :( Someone help me feel better.

Absolutely love my 305's! Depending on what room you're using them in, 308 can easily be too big. And I agree with Ofenlicht - I rather buy a JBL sub for perfect LF response and control!
NotThatCool
I've been using the 305s with the 310s sub as studio monitors and was pretty happy. However, I had some 'kick' envy when listening to my friends M-Audio BX8 so I decided to try the 308's. It was disappointing due to the fact that the 310s sub does not have an adjustable crossover, 80Hz or nothing... dang. If I could drop it to 50hz-60Hz I think it would be a better match. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 DAC which sounds excellent by the way, but only 2 balanced outputs, otherwise I would hook up both speakers and the sub to the DAC.
Come back.

Apparently it did just for you. Did you buy it last drop?
zjsk
I did not, and not I have an issue... These are actually cheaper on Amazon...
Will this ever drop again?
Regretfullname
Yes.
Is the price for the pair or each speaker?

Per speaker
This is per speaker, right? Meaning that the drop is 202.99 for a single JBL 308 speaker?
Sold as a pair, right !

Need some advice. What's the easiest way to use these as main speakers in a entertainment center setup. Basic receivers don't have pre outs, especially XLR pre outs. Need to connect to TV, XBOX, cable box, and a turntable.
I know using TV as hub can work, but it's kinda clunky. Any better options out there?
ziis
You need a preamp to control the volume and switching functions. XLR is not necessary as you can use an RCA>TRSorXLR cable into the LSR308s.
Does your turntable have a built in Phono Preamp? If not, you'll need a preamp with phono capability or buy an external phono preamp (I assume it has one built in since your are already using it).
If you already have a receiver, use it for switching sources and send one of the tape outs to a simple passive volume control like this (assuming you don't need remote volume control):

or this:

Basic receivers dont have pre out, but any midrange and high end ones do.
The easiest and cleanest solution is to simply get a better receiver. Since you are spending money on some form of hardware either way. This also lets you upgrade to the newest 4k capable, hdr capable models at the same time.
Which model receiver do you currently have? Other options you can do really depend on what you already have
I got 2 of these for $335 from authorized dealer uniquesquared one ebay, now that's a deal http://www.ebay.com/itm/311375544374?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Unfortunately, we have a USA only shipment policy with JBL and cannot ship these overseas. As for the link above, I looked it over and did not see the pricing which was mentioned. If someone can provide and actual link that shows this lower price that would be helpful.
We always strive to provide the best pricing to our community and if there is anything we can do to assist the community we will.
Thanks for your questions!
SeanReid
you'd have to sign into my ebay and my wife's ebay to see the accepted best offer price from the authorized dealer, I can send you copies of the ebay receipts if you'd like
I just bought these in a kit with pads and cables. Get yourself some balanced trs and 1/4" cables. Only power cable is in the box. Also no grille which s common for monitor. As I'm using mine for actual instrument recording and listening to playback and live it's fine but keep in mind if you ar planning on using these in a traffic environment.
Ok the important stuff. They sound amazing. Flat near perfect and at this price hands down the best in the business.
i have these and i love them. sound way better than KRKs
Only a few hours left on this amazing drop and we hope that it will be successful.
We have a limited number of these available so do not miss out on this opportunity. It is unfortunate we cannot ship these to our community members overseas, alas, this is JBL's policy and we have enjoyed a great relationship with them thus far. With only 5 more people needed, this drop is close to closing successful. We hope to continue to offer excellent pro audio products to the community and increase the variety over time.
Please feel free to share this drop with friends and as always, thank you for being a part of Massdrop.
Any possibility of having these shipped to Canada?
jfturcot
jfturcot,
Unfortunately, due to JBL's restrictions on international shipments we cannot fulfill orders to members outside the US. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that this may change at some point in the future.
Thank you for being a part of Massdrop.

Such a shame. I was very interested in these.
How do these monitors perform for gaming? Anyone have experience with them?
We are very excited to once again offer the JBL LSR308 Powered Studio Monitors to the Massdrop community.
These 8" reference monitors are great for beginners, professionals or as an upgrade from a smaller size monitor. While often used for stereo mixing of music, these monitors can be used for film scoring and/or 5.1 surround sound mixing, when used in conjunction with a subwoofer. We have set the max quantity for a single purchase at 5 units, to accommodate those building a surround setup. However, please note there is a limited quantity available at this time.
Please feel free to post any comments or questions and as always thank you for being a part of Massdrop.
When it will be come?
Come again !!
