I really want to like this light, but it will not remain on high for any length of time. When ramped up to max it'll stay there for a few seconds then go to ~ 50% brightness and will not go any higher until it is power cycled. Since the brightness is analog it is very hard to avoid going to 100% and encountering this issue. The manufacturer was contacted and never replied.
Edit: I've put a 14500 Li-ion cell in it and it behaves much better than with a AA, but since it's advertised to work with AA I would expect to have full functionality with them.
