Lots of reviews claim this device is frustrating to set up. My opinion is that these people did not read the instruction manual, or neglected to order the key smart that accommodates more keys. I've got three house keys on it, and the optional bottle opener.
I really like it so far; I'm about two weeks in.
Keeps the keys in place, hasn't gotten loose since I got it, and I know where everything is. I only wish they had an xtra large size for people like me who've got 25 keys on 1 ring for the house lol. Overall, great product.
While I can understand why many would love this product, I personally don't like it as much. It is great for organizing, and keeping your keys tidy, but I find it can get in the way sometimes (with my specific set up) and if you don't have enough keys or irregular keys, it can be a little awkward.
The keysmart rugged is awesome. Using it feels like using a swiss multitool thing.
Setup was quite hard for me. Having the clip facing the table made aligning the keys with the extensions very awkward (Maybe I did it wrong but I did look at the website). But once I finished the setup, using it feels cool, useful and organized.
More of a gimmick than a useful tool for me.
Pros:
Good quality materials.
Cons:
Loop piece is too small for using it together with a ring and keys. If your keys have different shape or size bigger than showed in the marketing materials - loop piece impedes key movement.
Impractical to use if your keys have different shape, width or size.
If you would need to remove one or two keys from the organizer - it would be a bigger hassle than using a regular ring, especially if you use spacers.
Expensive for what it is - 20$ for 2 small pieces of aluminum and 2 screws. :)
All in all - a pocket chain with a regular metal ring is more practical for me.
The KeySmart Rugged is perfect for my needs, as I have only a few actual keys, but wanted something that would clip to my pocket and keep them from jangling, while providing space for my vehicle key fob. The midnight diamond finish has been quite durable so far. Quite satisfied.
Keep all my keys in one place, no bulging or bunching of keys in the pants. And after a while, got used to the 'direction' of the keys so they will rotate and slot back into their spaces, even when in the dark.
