Inspired by athletes’ spirit of adventure, Austria’s Komperdell has been making ski poles and other alpine gear since 1922. This is the company’s Carbon Expedition Tour 4: a lightweight, robust touring pole that’s designed to pack down small. Featuring four foldable sections, an Expedition foam grip, and a padded strap, it keeps mountaineers moving without weighing them down. Additional features include an Approach 2.0 lock, a Powerlock 3.0 locking mechanism, an Ice-Flex basket, and an Ice-Flex tungsten/carbide tip. The standard pole is adjustable from 47.2 to 57.1 inches in length and packs down to 18.1 inches, while the compact version is adjustable from 41.3 to 49.2 inches in length and packs down to 16.1 inches. They weigh 8.1 and 7.5 ounces, respectively, per pole.
