Just received mine in Singapore (27/9/18). WOW! I thought after a purchasing a few LM items i would no longer be in awe, I was wrong! It just keeps getting better. The strap keeps the bag tight and compact with my toiletries in it, attached is a pic of the fully loaded bag. The zip is nice and smooth, nice touch with the piece of leather attached to it. The leather is soft, i like the whole vintage look of it. Looks like it's build to last a few life times. Thanks again Tyler, very happy!

Hi Tyler, the whisky leather version I received is slightly darker than your photo, which is just what I want. Very nice! Do you provide life-time support if something goes wrong with the Dopp kit? Thanks!

LMproductsThanks Tyler. Many of the pictures I had seen in the past I assumed they were chocolate but I now realise they are whisky. I have changed my order to whisky because that is what I had judged to be chocolate. Maybe it would help marketing the chocolate version if there were more pictures of it opened and in use like the whisky version.

received my dopp today. I ordered it in green, very nicely made, only issue is the clasp does not close all the way most of the time. still have not made up my mind if it is worth what I paid for it on massdrop, my thoughts it is not worth the $70 advertised on lm leather site.

I understand the bags are lined with Cordura. That’s all of them, not just the leather bag, correct?
I’m very curious how these perform in moist, humid, wet conditions. I’m particularly concerned about trapped moisture and the possibility of mildew.
All the dopp bags I’ve owned previously were made out of nylon. They would get wet, but they soaked in the water, shunted it to the outer surface, and dried out quite rapidly, even when closed.
If the inside of these bags get wet, would they easily dry out when closed? Or would one specifically have to open them up and wait for them to air out?
In a situation where one is traveling quickly and needs to throw a damp toothbrush into the bag, as well as bottles and containers that are not fully dry due to condensation from hot showers, or standing water on the sink top, etc, how would these bags fare?
When all this moisture is rapidly packed into the bag and closed up in order to catch the next flight, for example, a nylon bag would soak up the moisture, but just as easily let it evaporate out, being an open weave.
I worry that these bags, with their multiple layers of material, may not evaporate water out rapidly enough, creating an environment where mildew could form.
Please let me know. I think these bags are gorgeous and rich. Quite nice looking.
If they don’t respond well to moisture trapped inside due to the need to pack up quickly and run, or if they need any special care to dry them out, that would be good to know.

All versions (canvas & leather) have the same lining material.
The lining is mold resistant as well as waterproof. In normal use, I don't expect there would ever be an issue. I would clean it out as you would any other dopp kit every now and then. The liner is sewn such that you can pull it out enough from the inside to wipe it down and clean it easily.

I just received a new order. The product was perfect with one exception: The button that keeps the leather belt strap in position, the button broke apart the first time I tried to un-snap it. The metal inside the two-pieces of the button top was not even strong enough to withstand the force of the snap. Do you have any suggestions for a quick replacement?

Could I check if the full grain whiskey leather version is also 15 oz? Trying to decide which would be better for a EDC/light travel kit.

SGDaveThe leather is 4.5 oz. Leather ounce thickness is measured differently than textiles. So even though the waxed canvas has a higher ounce thickness it is still thinner and lighter weight than the leather version. So of you're going for weight, the canvas version will be slightly lighter. Let me know if that answers your question and if there is anything else I can help with.

I really like the look of the full grain whiskey leather. My concern is with how the leather will perform when folded up in a closet for months? In general it will be folded most of the time. I don't have a lot of experience with big pieces of leather like that, but it seems like it would dry out and rot. Would the canvas be lower maintenance? I've used the same nylon dopp for 20+ years. it would be nice to have something more adult looking, but I don't want to fuss with it or worry about how its sitting in the closet.

heddNo different to storing shoes in your cupboard for a couple of years. Sun and water are the biggest enemies of leather but you WILL need to condition the dopp kit every now and then. It's not really that much of a mission though and whilst you're at it, drag out your shoes, belts and anything else you have in leather.
