Jeez guys, if you dislike Makerbot so much then just refrain from clicking the join button. Massdrop has offered several other 3d printers so it's not like they're playing favorites.
andySee the problem is all the printers you've listed earlier were either cheap chinese imports or very poorly built kits. The only ones that dont fall into that were the Kossel and the Printrbot and even the Printrbot isnt great, albeit from a great company.
There are tons of great printers out there from companies with morals, and that stand up for their product. Lulzbot is a great example of that. I work with MakerBot and Lulzbot on a day to day basis in my job and I can say that Makerbot doesnt hold a candle to Lulzbot in reliability, repair-ability and customer service. Makerbot your a number, and your warranty claims if they get covered will be weeks out. Lulzbot service happens now, right now, they always have an answer or a part in the mail. PrintrBot is the same way. Along with many other great printers and companies out there.
prcdslnc13That's incredible feedback! Thanks! We would absolutely love to work with Lulzbot, however, there is virtually no demand for that brand on our platform, only thing I could find via polls was this: https://www.massdrop.com/vote/3d-printer-hotends. It's not even top three in the list of hot ends. Versus this: https://www.massdrop.com/vote/makerbot-3d-printers which got 416 votes in 11 days. (3d printer hotends poll has been on the site for 175 days) and this: https://www.massdrop.com/vote/3d-printers. We are giving what the people want.
If you don't like what you see, you have power to change it via polls. We want great companies on the site and the best way to do that is to be organized and share via forums and subreddits. In turn, we will do our very best to get them on Massdrop.
Omega192I just wanted to let people know that this printer has a lot of problems before shelling out $2800. When I ordered this printer, it was brand new and there wasn't any reviews of it. The will eventually fix it, but they have a ways to go.
andySo a VC-backed, corporate sold-out company with a marketing department whose job it is to hack community sentiment to put Takerbot in a public light, got 400+ votes in 11 days? I would say that's more a description of your poll's security/reliability than the true public's willingness to drop nearly $3k on a product that works like its already been dropped...on the ground!
