Just got mine back from modhouse, my mind is blown.. i am A/Bing them with another set of TX-0s and its a completely different headphone, the bass extension and sound stage are stupidly large. If i owned the 6XX's that i used while waiting for the mod to be completed they would be taken out of rotation for sure. I do tend to prefer exciting headphones over neutral ones though. I will be doing an A/B with LCD Classics tonight.
jm090Good on you dude, after months with the stock T-X0 I got sick of the boring and dark sound-sig these T50's got tuned too. Just doing some basic mods like tweaking the port vents and cotton in the cups made a massive difference. Sounds a lot more balanced now but shows how much potential are in these T50's!
Congrats dude!
DanLeThe mod is $60 + your shipping cost to get it to him, he recommends pairing them with zmf lambskin pads for another $60, Which I would recommend getting. I got the cowhide and they are a bit uncomfortable, although I like their sound a bunch. He ships them back on his dime and throws in a 1/4 to 1/4 vmoda cable. You can get away with just the $60 + shipping and I promise you it's worth it for plenty of reasons. First they are mostly closed and they don't sound like it after they are modded, which for most people hits a unique spot in their stable. Second they are the most fun headphones I have listened too personally. I tend to enjoy fun headphones over reference sound headphones though. If I was choosing argons or 6XX I would take the argons, and I know 6XX owners that would agree.
jm090a few weeks in now, my impressions havent changed. The Argon mod is out of this world good, they make me crave getting back to my desk and listening.
