I'm a bit curious why the O2 is still so popular when the Schiit Magni 3 is essentially the same price. Much more powerful, low-high gain, preamp out. and newer.

SomeTechNoobSchiit products that are sold outside of US are more expensive compared to buying one in the US due to tax or import duties. Its like the Sony MDR 1000X are much cheaper compared to the Bose QC 35.

SomeTechNoobThere are also people who really seem to hate Schiit. When looking for similarly priced suggestions a while ago on head-fi I got chewed out by this person for telling them that unless they gave me something that backed up their (anti-Schiit)claims I couldn't take them seriously. Ended up with a Magni 2 Uber and Modibit(aka mimby), but I also live in the US and picking them was in part for warranty within the US and that they're willing to do out of warranty repair. Had an Audio-GD NFB-15.32 before that had died, and all I can say is screw shipping that all the way back to China, it's quite expensive.
SomeTechNoobI think it's a question of sound signature and headphone pairing, personally. I popped a review on here about 18 weeks ago and maybe that will help you with some of what this amp does.
As a person who prefers NEUTRAL, I have been gravitating to this,(and now the O2/DAC combo device with the Grace SDAC), for application that I might typically use the Schiit gear previously.
Having received my HiFiman HE 4XXers between that review and now, and using this O2 amp regularly to drive them, I can tell you that there's even more of a reason top love it.
If I am using Schiit on the HE4XXers, it will be the Lyr/Valhalla stack, which is KEEN for planarmags.
