In 2011, audio engineer and blogger NwAvGuy published a post titled “O2 Headphone Amp.” In the blog, he outlined his philosophy on defining sound quality and detailed his ideal audiophile circuit design. This is the Objective 2, NwAvGuy's most famous headphone amplifier. Capable of powering everything from IEMs to HD 800s with linear ease, the O2 is your ideal baseline reference amplifier. This Desktop Edition features a quarter-inch headphone output, RCA inputs, and a rear-mounted power jack.

At checkout, choose the 110V or 220V adapter, as well as standard gain (2.5x low, 6.5x high) or medium gain (1.0x low, 3.3x high).
The O2 was made for benchmark performance at an entry-level price, something the audiophile world had never seen before. The design was unorthodox, with forward-facing power and a 3.5-millimeter input, but purists were fine sacrificing convenience for optimal signal pathing on the PCB. NwAvGuy had achieved his goal of designing the ideal no-frills headphone amp.
While NwAvGuy was satisfied with purist input/output/power arrangements, the Massdrop community wanted more options. Following the launch, the O2 discussion lit up with requests—more than 500—for changes to the input, output, and power configuration. You wanted a quarter-inch headphone output, RCA inputs, and a rear-mounted power jack. Thus, the Desktop Edition was born.
All orders will be shipped by Massdrop.
Estimated ship date is Nov 28, 2017 PT.
