Sound wise it is excellent at first listen, although I haven't put more than 2 hours worth of listening to it. My setup is a Thaulab Varna IV > DIY Belden cable with Neutrik Rean RCA plugs > O2 > Sennheiser HD-555. First impression is that it's dead quiet (or if it's noisy, it's imperceivable to me). Sound is just something else (in the good sense) - compared to the headphone out of the DAC, it's quieter (the headphone out has a weird ring/hum), the sound is way, way more dynamic, the bass, even while not a strong suit of these headphones, is now tighter and moving easier, toms and cymbals sound way more articulate, vocals are more forward and everything is just better. I haven't yet listened to quieter recordings, but normal sounding ones didn't require me to go past 11 o'clock on the knob at 1x gain, so there's plenty of loudness (although I'm usually listening relatively quietly). Channel imbalance is there, but it's below comfortable listening levels, so it doesn't bother me.
Overall I'm very happy with it at first and I hope my impressions stay the same with more time. Can't wait to get home and put some more listening to it.
Thanks!
