Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Because each row has a unique keycap shape, alt layouts require a unique keycap for each legend that moves off its QWERTY row. There is a compatibilly list for k-boards: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-universal-cherry-mx-translucent-clear-black-full-keycap-set-front-side-print.html
Keycaps layouts and size: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/mechanical-keycap-layout-and-size-chart.html
Mine Ducky Shine 2/3/4 k-boards don't use the same keycaps size like lets say Corsair K70 Vengeance on R1(ctrl,win, alt + spacebar keycaps).
My "win keycap" (+ alt, ctrl keycaps) is 1x1.25 in size on the Ducky Shine k-boards and on the Corsair K70 V the "win keycap" is 1x1 size.
Even the "Spacebar" is not the same size, Ducky Shine 2/3/4 uses 1x6.25 Spacebars, Corsair K70 V uses 1x6.5 Spacebars.
Here in Sweden we don't have the "ANSI layout" on yours k-boards, we have the "ISO/Nordic layout".
Even the "ISO/Nordic layout" and the "ISO/English layout" are not the same, we have this 3 letters "Å", "Ö" and "Ä", you don't have these 3 letters in UK/US.
You can use a ANSI keycaps set on a ISO k-board but ANSI Enter + left Shift don't fit on the ISO k-board. + you don't get/be missin the 3 letters "Å", "Ä" and "Ö" on the keycaps.
You can also use a ISO keycaps set on a ANSI k-board but ISO big Enter + left Shift don't fit on the ANSI k-board.
I have 3 ANSI k-boards so I can use ANSI keycaps sets.
The White Ducky Shine 2 k-board is a ISO/Nordic layout with keycools terrible/ugly letters on the keycaps, ANSI rainbow keycaps set + Duckys pink ISO keycaps like the big Enter , left Shift and some more.
Just saw the model is on that list you provided, so it looks like they will work. Looking at the pictures of the keys provided, it looks like it actually comes with both sizes of "special" keys.
Yes you're right, I looked in my box (I bought this keycaps set on Massdrop last year) after I had replying to you.
I have also 2 different ISO big Enter keycaps in my box. The orange keycap not included in the Max box.
