Though it’s named after Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station, the Flinders Automatic Watch gives off a decidedly nautical aura. The white inner portion of the dial is textured with vertical grooves, almost like boards on a ship deck. Adding to the nautical theme are the slim silver indexes, which, when paired with the depressed inner dial, resemble a life preserver floating in a white sea. For contrast, it’s got black hands, plus a date window at 3 and a Melbourne M as a counterbalance on the seconds hand. The movement is Miyota 9015 24-jewel automatic, which vibrates 28,800 times per hour and has a power reserve of 42 hours. In terms of construction, it’s made with a stainless steel case and a sapphire crystal—tough enough to seal it off to a depth of 50 meters.

Founded in, you guessed it, Melbourne, Australia in 2013, Melbourne Watch Company first sprung onto the scene with the Flinders: a crowd-funded and community-designed timepiece that received enormous success. Since that launch, MWC has expanded its product line to include five more models, each offering a distinctly Aussie approach to traditional watch aesthetics. Every MWC watch is named for a notable location in the company's home of Melbourne—from Flinder Street Station to the Avalon Airfield.
