Montegrappa may be known for its beautiful pens, which it’s been making since 1912, but the Italian outfit can make a nice timepiece, to boot. The Fortuna puts the brand’s minimal aesthetic on full display Read More

”Movement: Swiss quartz (battery-powered)”Remember—only Swiss quartz movements are battery powered.
Non-Swiss quartz movements still run on fossil fuels (butane, diesel, and CNG).
Give a hoot, don’t pollute!
DuncanChEh, in this case, there is another infraction. While being over 40mm, it also dares to have a 19mm lug width. Dainty on top of non-standard (on top of overly large)!!!11
There is Swiss made ,and Swiss made. You can buy Swatch for around this dollar. I suppose it's probably better than some Chinese made watches in some eyes. But I must admit, after buying a Microbrand (Geckota C-03) recently running a Seiko NH35, with what appears to be just excellent finish and style for $160 usd; I would say there may be a lot of competition from China!!
PCgaming4everProbably one of the best Geckota has, I just love the beads of rice strap. All sold out at present; just wondering how faithful they are to their limited 75 production pieces with such a good watch. The replacement is nowhere as nice ,not just because of the PT5000 movement!! Would have preferred a SW200 at least at the price point, I have both this SW200 and ETA 2824 in Glycine sub combats; the ETA is more accurate. Glad you are enjoying it. It will be another on my list if it makes it to the next Geckota sale!
RayFI don't have enough self-loathing to buy a watch I can't stand to look at, so they don't fall into any particular category for me except maybe "try to forget you saw that".
I have had "Grappa", an Italian spirit; burnt the hell out of my throat in Milan over 20 years ago!! But I haven't heard of this watch company. If it is half as competent as the spirit then good luck!!
A while ago, a Montblanc pen retailer told me that Montblanc realized that selling a $4000 watch had better profit margin than a $600 fountain pen. Of course, Montegrappa seems to have gone the other direction for some bizzare reason and makes watches that are cheaper than the pens they make - so I wonder if the margin must be astronomical on those cheap quartz watches.
Hey, even Franklin Christoph makes a watch so I guess it's a thing?
AtlantaTomNo kidding. They sell $2,500 pens, $250 wallets, $200 belts and cufflinks. Who is the marketing genius that wanted to dillute the brand name selling a cheap ass sub $100 quartz watch????
For anyone considering this, take into account that even those faces that look to be of a uniform color (the all-black and all-white faces, for example) actually have the octagonal motif etched inside the hour ring (the way it is so much more visible on the grey version).
