I'm sure everyone who wants one of these knows what's involved, but just in case you don't: This is a very l-o-n-g card. Make sure you have room in your case, especially if you have short cable runs already in place. You will need to run a separate PCI-e line from your power supply to this video card, or your computer will not boot. The PCI-e power line connects on the TOP of this card (it this how things are normally done? I've been away from the wonderful world of systems building for a while) In my case (see what I just did there?) the power cable had to make a 90 degree bend from the top of the video card in order for me to fit the side panel of my case back on.
Other than that, this is a very nice card, even if the next generation is only a few months away. If you really, really need a video card, this was a good drop.
Is MSI GTX 1060 can drop 299$ I will buy it.

The commet I write a 11week ago I got some money now I planning to buy new 11 series card.

1070’s cost that much now
bill.d.trav is correct. Massdrop started with good intentions and offered drops with very little risk because of the demand from us. However, it became very successful, got greedy (typical), and started gouging us. This makes them not unlike actual online retailers, such as ebay, Newegg and Amazon. Yet they are still not being taxed like the other retailers, because they are only pretending to be middle-men instead of an actual retailer. For their greed, i hope this changes and they start getting their thieving asses taxed. Yes I know this will make their prices go up. But at least this way i can just buy from Amazon and Newegg and won't be forced to give these greedy bastards my money. Then a new company will come along with their business plan as a middle man, but remain true to their roots...and i'll buy from them. You should be ashamed of yourselves Massdrop.
Holy shit I hate miners
Fuck miners
Fucking miners!
Wait did this sell out in four minutes whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
ZevDog
No. No they didn't.
The MSRP of that card is $250.
We know that its price skyrocketed but thats because retailers increase the pricetag what is massdrop's excuse?
They want to help us out by just overpricing the product 150% instead of 200%? oh thanks for the favor! schmucks!

Yes cars are sold at MSRP (atleast when you buy it from a car sales man new ). Some cars maybe more expensive than what they cost (that is more of an issue when we are talking about the upper spectrum of cars and or interior luxury extras) but they are still at MSRP since its the MANUFACTURER that decides the price on cars (e.g vw) not the retailer.. the retailer only has a fixed cut (since car industry works more like a cartel you picked the worse example here just because you thought it suited your argument but although peculiar it still doesnt work) Anyway back to the topic the price on graphics cards rose this PARTICULAR year artificially, retailers claim its because of miners (and it is true that miners buy many cards ) but its mostly an excuse/scapegoat for them to make more money since there are obvius solutions to raised demand (most simple of them is raising production) but thats a big story and irrelevant to the subject go to a computer forum to discuss about that.
What matters in this particular discussion is that mass drop buys the 1060s at about $200 from MSI and sells them to you at $400 (or whatever the pricetag of this drop was I cant remember) and that may not be theft legally (since people -ill/misinformed people or people that do not know better -accept to do purchase those items) but from an ethical site its a scam because massdrop is NOT a retailer it is SUPPOSED to arrange.... mass drops...
Its single point of existence is that it is supposed to CIRCUMVENT the retail market buy arranging a group order directly from the manufacturer and thus achieving a price LOWER than MSRP.
That's what it advertises it does and that's what people think it does. yet here it obviously does not it just exploits the fact that those cards have had a 200% increase in their retail price and sells them just a little under that while still pocketing a large amount of the price-tag it offers to you (like more than half the money its asks for the card is massdrop's profit)
bill.d.trav
Dude, bottom line, stop your whining and just don't buy it!
FUCK 1070 already sold out....
these cards are still too expensive!!!
For miners these are still a steal compared to eBay prices. That’s why so many have sold.

These prices are very good compared to eBay prices. GTX 1060s go for close to $500 there.
Cokeman
It's not miners buying them anymore, now it's ebay speculators. Buy on massdrop, sell on ebay. The inflated prices have created a new shit-market.
Geeze! I paid $380 for my GTX 1070 two years ago and now they're $580?
If you're a gamer, wait for the GTX 2070 so you can buy a card at MSRP.

Pfft! Screw the RTX cards! The prices of the GTX cards are below MSRP now and they perform better than the RTX cards when you compare price to performance ratio.
Sugar_Free
But gotta take future driver support into account
The prices here are silly but I think people are delusional if they think they are going to get new cards below MSRP. Free Market economy bros

Once again that points back to the free market capitalist American economic system.
The main draw of using GPU's to mine is cost/efficiency ratio and scalability. It matters a lot less what you can resell for if they're far more efficient for your use. Asic miners are even more efficient BECAUSE they're built specifically to task but they're expensive. Thus, if you have a card that is, say, 20% more efficient than a 1070, and the about same price it would be far more appealing to an intelligent miner than "hey, I can sell this for an extra $30 when I get rid of it!"
Lol another graphics card drop with way to high of prices. Didn't they learn from the last graphics card drop, people just are not willing to pay these prices. $380 should be the price for the dam GTX 1070; that card is almost two years old for God's sake
HeftyMann
Yeah, nobody is willing to pay these high prices, except they sold out in minutes.
Demoknight
Within minutes no, a couple hours yes. They only had like 50 cards so what do you expect. Oh well people are dumb to pay these prices. I mean I got a GTX 1080ti on here for $650 just 6 months ago.
Yeah I'll pass on the garbage prices. I come to massdrop for good prices on items.
I paid $550 for my Vega 64. I'll pass on $580 for something weaker.
$380 for a 1060? $580 for a 1070? You have got to be kidding me!
I know there's a GPU shortage, and GPUs are in high demand, but this is ridiculous. This is effectively scalping.
I'm not saying Massdrop is to blame, but someone is making a killing here off the people willing to pay way over MSRP.

380 is for the 1060, the 1070 is 580 (and weirdly sold out)
Eneq
I'm very aware, I'm responding to " I was even questioning 380 for a 1070. "
Lmao. One would think that they wouldn't charge cards above msrp on this site but boy was I wrong lol. These cards will be irrelevant soon anyways so would rather wait.
I wonder how long this will run before it goes out of stock
Neostar
1070 already gone
Neostar
1070 option is already gone.
Is this for the 1070 or 1070 ti? At checkout it stated 1070 ti...

So, not a TI confirmed?
nerdivant
We are not selling a 1070TI in this drop
Nope, above retail MSRP.
I remember buying my MSI 1080 for $499 thinking (now I'll just sit back and wait for the price to drop for my SLI dream) (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Once again, $180 or more above retail. I'm sure Massdrop will claim that's just what the manufacturers are charging them but given retail-stores, the proper kind that can't keep them on the shelves, are still listing at the real MSRP, I find that claim suspect.
Maybe there needs to be a more robust limit system... Compare shipping address, payment methods, etc. Basically make sure if there's a limit per household, link up accounts that share any details so they can't easily bypass the limits.
No, it's not.
Howdy Everyone,
This drop is live now....

Very Limited
Cheers.
There should be a way for Gamers to be able to get a GPU over Crypto Miners. Some of us just want an upgrade, while Miners snatch all the GPU’s up. Have you seen GPU prices lately due to Miners? Unreal!! THERE SHOULD BE A “GAMERS ONLY” DROP!! Limit 1 per. I cant find a GPU to upgrade to for less than $1,500 for something that was $650.

^^ true, i'm mining gamecredits and buying games with it and stockpiling the coins for later uses
Neostar
nice, i like where your head is at.
Another drop bites the dust...
The next gpu drop needs a lot tighter restrictions. 1+ old year account, 1 limit gpu. Might last more than 5 minutes if this rule was made. That would exclude me, but I'm probably not ever going to get a gpu drop at this rate anyways.

Christ. I'm so glad I got the 1070 Ti back during their November flash sale for $429.99.

It's probably more worth to go to a Micro Center and buy one of these tbh.
