MotorradThis company says their cables sound better. Innerfidelity has measured cables proving there is no difference in sound quality. This is Massdrop partnering with a company that LITERALLY sells snake oil.
" subtle effects that don't lend themselves to that type of observation...."
Perception is irrelevant. Measurements proved there is zero change in sound.
ripsterarmy99Measurements prove nothing when we don’t know what measurements to use to quantify sonic differences or sonic signatures. Frequency response is just one measurement. It doesn’t detect speed, capacitance effect or any other number of parameters that may affect sound quality. Use your own ears to judge whether something sounds better or not for goodness sake!
SGvaEars are remarkably badly calibrated -- usually you can't even match pairs on the same head. While capable of detecting relative phase differences, relative volume differences, relative timing and relative frequency shifts, they are terrible at giving absolute values for any of these things.
You can certainly use your ears to judge whether something sounds better *to you*, but this is a preference. Preferences are only valid for the person making them.
If you are experiencing notable signal speed differences in your cables, you can always adjust the length of the cable. At 30Hz, each cycle is about 10 million meters long, so trim carefully.
MotorradCall me names when I refute your obviously wrong claims - yes, you are by definition a placebophile. Someone who believes cables make a difference when coat hangers sound the same as premium wires.
ripsterarmy99You started out calling people names and the 'proof' you have are old articles from the internet that started as jokes and have been laughed at for years. Some of the links you posted actually refute the points you are pathetically trying to troll. yes, you are by definition a moron and a troll...and a lazy one at that.
jaffeYou provide me with proof that cables significantly affect sound quality ie. Buying Nordost cables drastically improve the performance of a headphone.
ripsterarmy99You can fraudulently argue *burden of proof* until you're blue in the face(I expect you are by now)...and all the graphs in the world aren't going to prove or disprove everything( sorry, "science"). I've never heard the Nordost, so I don't know if they drastically improve the sound. I've never heard drastic difference and nobody here is arguing about drastic or significant difference or even arguing about cost=quality. You've already demonstrated over several comments sections your misunderstanding of basic electronic fundamentals, but are you really saying that you are also unable to hear the difference between a coat hangar and a high quality 12g wire? between cat5 and starquad?
jaffeObjective measurements prove things, if you don't think so no audio product has a proven frequency response because everyone measures things differently. Don't shy measurements away when they very clearly do something. No, minor differences in cables impedance and resistance unintentionally because of source material is not a valid argument for "cables impact sound". Properly made cables will sound exactly the same as one another.
ripsterarmy99I notice that you failed to even address the question and continue try to project an argument no one is making. -->...but are you really saying that you are also unable to hear the difference between a coat hangar and a high quality 12g wire? between cat5 and starquad?
Objective measurements do prove things, nobody is arguing against that. Objective measurements do not 'prove' everything. Perhaps you've never actually done experiments. I doubt you have with the way you desperately cling to the 'measurements by machines are everything' myth.
I wish it were not true, but "properly made cables" made out of quality materials can sound different.
